I have noticed that LNF is the biggest opinion divider in ADTOE. It is somebody's favourite song on the album but somebody doesn't like it at all.

So I think everybody has noticed similarities between UAGM and LNF. But which one is better?

I hope that discussion is sensible and no one here make this thread a similar spectacle as Thiago's post earlier (with all due respect Thiago).

My opinion is LNF now because it has a fresh riffs and tecnically it is more challenging. UAGM has still abetter guitar solo IMO.

I didn't find this kind of poll but if it exists, please feel free to remove this mods!

Close call for me. I love LNF, and don't know why it's so low ranked, but I also love UAGM too. They both have similarly energetic and catchy choruses.

I'll reserve judgement for now, although I'm leaning towards UAGM at the moment.

Pols Voice

Under a Glass Moon, but I also like Lost Not Forgotten a lot.

Marion Crane

They're both very similar.  LNF being this album's UAGM.  (ADTOE is very much a Images and Words part 2 to me)

But I gotta give the edge to UAGM.

DebraKadabra

Sorry, UaGM--you know I love you.  But I had to go with LNF.
Look at all us freaks cluttering your city streets
Still scalping their ticket-less applause
Spun monkeys on the railroad track, take me to the caine field; I walk along pick my spiderbite
Basically Kyoko Kirigiri

I didn't even have to think about it. UAGM FTW

Very similar song, I enjoy Under A Glass Moon much more at the moment. But I have the feeling that LNF will grow among the fanbase once it gets some live coverage.

krands85

UAGM easily. But LNF is awesome too, just not on the same level.
Whoaaaahh, ohhh, ohhhhh. Whoaaaahh, ohhhhh, ohhhhhh. Waaah, ahhh, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaowwwwww

pogoowner

UAGM is a great song, and it features JP's best solo. LNF is just not very good. And it has that ridiculously over the top instrumental section that adds nothing to the song.

Knguro

I love UaGM but i do feel that LNT is like UaGM with steroids.

I will go with LNF. Never had a problem with UaGM and ironically it is the song that got me into dream theater back in 2002, but I still prefer LNF. UaGM does have a better guitar solo though.

Stonestef

Lost Not Forgotten for me,even though it was difficult not to vote UAGM with a solo like that!

I love LNF, and think it is my favorite song on the album.
The melody is awesome, but the solo wanking in the beginning can be off-putting.
UAGM to me has no weak spot.
Plus UAGM holds a place in my heart and memories that will be hard to top.
UAGM wins.

The only similarity I can find is the chorus. Lost not forgotten has a couple of good moments but most of the song is meh. UAMG on the other hand fails a little in the chorus, but the rest of the song is great.

UAGM, no contest.
LNF doesn't appeal to me at all.

As much as I love UAGM, I'm currently loving the tickle section and LNF's instrumental section, so LNF wins at the current moment.

UAGM is one of my all time favorite DT songs which I love from the bottom of my heart.  :heart

LNF is just a cool song which I like a lot, but that's it.

Really though, I love all the songs on ADTOE, but LNF is the one I love the least. It is growing on me though.

I like the intro a lot, then the chorus is O.K. and then I LOVE the instrumental section. Its a "Great" song which just falls short of being excellent.

Lotion

UAGM has a better chorus, so that's my pick. I really can't stand the chorus of LNF, and I don't know why but for me it sounds like a dramatic song taken out of eurovision song contest

There's like, ONE UAGM similarity in LNF, and its the big epic moment right after the piano intro and the few bars of "chugging" along with that first motif being played.  Other than that, the songs aren't similar at all.  UAGM doesn't have those stupid examples of bad musical wankery.

So yeah, UAGM.  One of my favorites from I&W that doesn't get talked about as much as it should.

If you asked me a month ago, I would've said Under A Glass Moon in a heartbeat, but Lost Not Forgotten has really grown on me. I'd probably go with Lost Not Forgotten by a slim margin at this point.

m0hawk

Main riff (intro/outro riff): LNF

Pre-verse1 chugging riff: LNF

Chorus: LNF

Guitar solo: UAGM

Keyboard solo: LNF

Cohesiveness: UAGM

UAGM has a much better overall flow. And a more entertaining solo. And has one of the best intros DT has  ever done. That said, the individual parts of LNF are absolutely brilliant, making me euphoric each time I hear the song. And for that, Lost Not Forgotten wins!

The Silent Cody

Just like Mohawk said, LNF has better invidual parts than UAGM, it's still fresh for me, and it's very very technical, challenging ;) More challenging than UAGM ;)

There are just a lot of super-wanky parts that I don't think add anything of value to the song.  I just don't like 'em.  Its rare, since DT is one of the few prog/prog metal bands that knows how to wank well 9 songs out of 10, but LNF is one of those instances where the song just sort of gets out of the way for them to go too over-the-top, if that makes sense.  I'd cite specific timestamps but I don't have my iPod on me (posting on a different computer) and it would mean listening to a song I'm bored by.

energythief

Lost Not Forgotten has some of the best DT lyrics to sing along to ever, and that's coming from a guy who loves to sing along to UAGM.

My vote is for LNF.

?

Under a Glass Moon. I don't hate the crazy unison in LNF but it doesn't feel like a completely necessary part of the song.

This goes for me pretty much as well.

HOW DARE YOU GUYS INSULT THE TICKLE SECTION

May JP have mercy on your souls. No, seriously.  :lol

Jirpo

Under a Glass Moon is one of DT's most underrated songs(!)

So I went with it. I do love LNF though.

Where do you get this from?
It seems to me UAGM is one of the overall most liked songs.
