I just saw this somewhere else.

I've got a few questions about this.

Could you go into more detail on how this was made?
Were the original masters used?
How was it mastered?

What is the press run?

Have respresentatives for the band approved this?

I'm thinking of pre-ordering this, but I like to know the answers to these questions first.

Thanks!

Could you go into more detail on how this was made?   It was pressed on 180 gram virgin vinyl from rainbo records
Were the original masters used? Yes and they were remastered in house at warner bros

What is the press run?  it is limited to 3000 hand numbered copies

Have respresentatives for the band approved this?  Yes the band and management both approved this through rhino entertainment/warner bros

they will be available at most indie retail record stores on black friday November 25th. I should have a list with every participating store in a few weeks, they were just solicited to retail a few days ago

If the cover says "Dream Theatre"...I'm going to feel a little ripped off...

If its on Blabbermouth, it has to be legit.

Ive already got mine pre ordered :), cannot wait until Nov 25!

Now we just need the rest of DT's albums on vinyl! SDOIT, Octavarium, and FIF (and ive heard Awake is on vinyl but for the life of me I cannot find it).

Would be nice to get a re-release of I&W, the one I have I had to get on ebay and its obviously pretty old so its not exactly 180g or scratch free.

I would buy all of their vinyl re-releases in a heartbeat.

re-releasing ...

...for the very first time.

:neverusethis:

But on a serious note, I'm relatively familiar with Brookvale records (they're based out of Long Island) and in my experience they're a legit label, so I don't really doubt the authenticity of this.  Pre-ordering now...

ZeppelinDT

Btw... anybody ordering this should also throw in a copy of the "Hotel of the Laughing" tree album into your order.  Seriously.  It's worth it.

ZeppelinDT

Also - @EnjoyTheRide.  The website lists "in store pickup" as one of the shipping options, but when I try to check-out, it makes me choose either Economy for $4.99 or Priority for $11.00.  How do I do an in-store pickup?

FsF

After seeing the ZeppelinDT seal of approval, I can't not buy this!

Pre-ordered!

One note to international customers, although the site lists $14.58 for the 'International Economy Shipping', there seems to be an extra handling charge, taking it up to $19.99.  Still happy with the price though.

The big question is, though, will the Double LP be in Manual or Automatic Sequence?

Pre-ordered mine last night. I absolutely don't want to miss out on this.

I am so excited for this, you have no idea!

Please let there be a locked groove for the static end of Finally Free...

Yes, we made sure to include the locked groove at the end of the record

lithium112

Whoa $30+shipping? That's a little steep. If you guys wanna listen to the vinyl without having to pay so much why don't you just play some scratching and static noises over your mp3?

The Letter M

Another question - How do the sides work out?

I'll guess and say that Regression-Fatal Tragedy is Side 1, BTL and THE are Side 2... but Sides 3 and 4... I would guess that Home/TDOE/OLT are Side 3, with a fade-out, and then Side 4 opens with TSCO and closes with FF?

Aside from SFAM on vinyl, there are a few other interesting releases like Pink Floyd's The Wall 7" box set, Rainbow's Long Live Rock N Roll on picture disk vinyl, an Elf 12" picture disk 12", and many more from Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Wilco, Miles Davis, etc.

Next month will get me broke as fuck when I hit the local record store to grab these.

So, when you reach the sound of the record player skipping at the end of the album, how will you know if it's just the album playing or if your record player is really skipping?!

it doesnt skip, it just continually spins at the end instead of hitting the end of the groove and autostopping(for lower end turntables). Most high end turntables are manual to stop the record from spinning anyway. It only has the locked groove on side D of the record.  Regardless, Im sure everyone on here knows the album well enough to know when the album ends and how its supposed to sound

Yeah, I was joking.  But it shows how little I know about turntables, lol.  I didn't even know any of this.  Maybe it's time for me to invest in one since ADToE and now this are available on vinyl.  It would be nice to have.

If you look really hard enough, you can also get Awake on vinyl... :)  (As well as WDADU, Images & Words, Live at the Marquee and Lie).

If you're willing to drop $400, I'd suggest this one.  It's so sexy.  (And is the one I have) - https://www.amazon.com/Pro-Ject-Debut-Audiophile-Turntable-Black/dp/B000CDHQK2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1319219404&sr=8-1

I spent like a month researching them.  I guess I'd consider it more "mid-range" than high end, but it seemed to be the best overall value.  Much better quality than a lot of the other ones in that price range, and much cheaper than a lot of the other ones I found of similar quality.  And, oddly enough... I found it in Best Buy of all places.

sirbradford117

zomg, yes.  So excited to own a copy of my favorite DT album on vinyl!!!

I can't wait to give it a spin on my $30 turntable with its built in speakers.

lol yeah, maybe a little. Honestly, I've just never understood the hype about vinyl. I guess it's a matter of preference and I've always preferred the "cleaner" sound of CDs and high quality mp3s. To be fair though, I haven't really heard a whole lot of music side-by-side on both so I can't judge. Maybe once I hear the same album on a vinyl I'll instantly convert and also throw away thousands of dollars converting my music collection to vinyl.

ZeppelinDT

It really depends on how the album is put onto vinyl.  The fact that it's on vinyl in and of itself doesn't mean anything really.  But if it's done the right way, vinyl can sound god-like.  (Although, if done cheaply and poorly, it can end up sounding awful)
