It's a song about a shaman, so his voice is hardly out of place. It sets the scene nicely for me and is a fun thing too. My kids thought it wqas hilarious and spent the next 20 mins trying to do it.

At which point I'm sure you told your kids that they were foolish for attempting to sing a C2 before hitting puberty.

Indeed. Then nearly broke my voice again trying to do it.
Come on, we've all had a go at singing the Shaman, haven't we? Admit it guys (and girls).

Obfuscation

I love it but one time I was listening to the album while going to sleep and fell asleep before this song came out. When it did, the Shamna's voice scared the crap out of me and woke me up.

Shaman or no Shaman, anyone notice how the intro (and the whole song, in fact) is exactly like Take The Time. I'll break it down structurally:

Bridges In The Sky - Intro
=
Take The Time - Intro

Holy...

you're right.

And, get this.

Vocals come in, just a bit after. :omg: :omg:

Guys, stop making jokes out of the comparison.
You are missing the similarities in the structure

"Ora che ho perso la vista ci vedo di più" (I can see much clearer now I'm blind...)

Guess who said that?? I'll give you a hint!

"Seeing Through darkness with borrowed eyes"
::) ::) ::)

And remember "under a glass moon, persian armies get lost- but not forgotten"

They are just the same, just the same... :loser:

GavinMangini89

Bitches don't know about Mongolian throat singing!

On another note, bitches love Mangini percussive elements at the beginning. Good gawd....zesty!  :xbones

TimmyHiggy

I love the voice and the song, bloody awesome

Wow, same thing happened to me :O

Since I knew at one point the song was called "The Shaman's Trance", I wasn't too shocked by it. My sister has heard this song, though, and asked "why is there a frog there?"  :lol

That's made funnier to me because I have one of the Progressive Nation 2008 t-shirts with all the bands on it and "One Nation, Under Prog" on the back, which my sister consistently misreads as "Frog". Apparently to my sister, DT=Frogs.

In a vacuum, I like it. However, I don't feel it meshes well with the Gregorian Choir. I wish they'd have picked a socio-religious theme and stuck with it exclusively.

chrisbDTM

i think there's like 4 too many, i would be fine with one gargle in the beginning

I will break you. **Witch king voice**

volwrath

I see it as my ringtone in the not so distant future

MirzekDT

It's perfect I always missed atmospheric things like this in DT music

After having listened to the album some eight or nine times now, I've gotten used to the sound...

... but I still think it's ugly.

Kotowboy

After the throat singing when the choir comes in i keep expecting some Ziltoid style voice-over

" Long ago - in a far away galaxy..."

DigitalScreams

Every time I hear the Shaman's voice, I get a mental picture of Sheldon practicing his throat singing.

jcmistat

Was surprised at first and I did laugh but I think its fits the song really well. So far afer two listens its my favorite song on the album. Would be great as an opener.

Pols Voice

It's cool, but as mentioned earlier in the thread, the shaman and the choir both give me a big Flower Kings vibe.

Definitely felt this too, glimpses of The Rainkmaker and Flower Power, there.

?

When I heard BITS for the first time, I thought the throat singing sounded like someone burping! :rollin It fits the shaman theme, though.
