I need to get hold of Kevin Moore, Derek Sherinian and Charlie Dominici related stuff, especially OSI looks interesting to me. I have some Platypus (well... Ice Cycles. I need more), I have LTE and LTE2 (With Levin for the win), and JR's Rhythm Of Time and The Road Home, both of which I really love. I've not got round to listening to Petrucci solo stuff, and I do wish there was a Myung solo album, so I could go and buy it, only to not touch my basses for another year because I have no chance of playing like that.

I have never heard of some of the bands you listed, to be honest. And those solo projects... well I didnt listen DT back then so I've just ignored them... I never really meant to make a perfect list of every dt-related band/project. I asked what of THESE projects (that I happen to know) do you listen to, just to know which ones are the most popular. Yeah I know, I should do my research better...

Wow, a lot of people are missing out on some seriously good prog by not checking out Platypus. Not so much the first album (Pus Comes to Shove) but the second one (Ice Cycles) is in my top 5 all time fav prog albums. Myung's playing is so robust and different from anything he's done with DT, and it makes you wonder why Ty Tabor has been sleeping through KX albums the last ten years. Morgenstein tops anything he's done with the Dregs and Sherinan is at his best. Even the Jelly Jam albums featuring everyone but Sherinan are just balls out, old school classic rock with a really steep prog edge to them. Surprised at how few people in the poll don't listen to them. You owe it to yourselves as Myung fans. /sales pitch over.

Not to sidetrack the thread, but how cool would it be to see a DT-themed festival or day where a bunch of these side-projects or ex-band members perform and then the event climaxes with the headlining act of DT.  I would love that.

I had a similar idea once; a 3-night festival with Marillion and Dream Theater on one night doing 2-hour sets, Neal Morse and The Flower Kings the next night doing 2-hour sets, then on the last night, Transatlantic does a 3.5-4 hour show!

As for DT-and-Family, it'd be pretty cool! LTE and DT would definitely get headlining sets, with probably Platypus (with DS and JM) get some time, and maybe some JR solo and JP solo stuff, too.
