Why should it be? It would be very weird if they started their show with a yet unreleased song imo.

Pull Me Under would be nice, 6:00 would be absolutely killer, but I have the feeling that it will be Overture 1928.

This.  It may be once the album support tour kicks off, but definitely NOT for the festival shows.

If it's As I Am i'm going to pout. I hate that song.

overture 1928? why would you think that? that would be totally out of left field, at least to me.

I think it will be A Nightmare to Remember.

And, as I predicted before, I think a Mangini drum solo will replace the "day after day" section, which will serve two purposes: it will showcase the new member with an unaccompanied solo (which they have done for other new members before), and it will cleverly eliminate the Portnoy vocal section from the song.

I agree with "Pull Me Under", "6:00" and "As I Am'.

Definitely DON'T think it will be "Constant Motion" or "A Rite Of Passage", despite being their two last singles.

I think "A Nightmare To Remember" might be a good one, but only for the summer shows, and not the tour for the new album. Otherwise, it was played a lot last tour, so they may try something else to shake things up a bit.

If none of the above, I'd like it if they opened with "Metropolis". It's a great classic tune and I don't think it's opened any shows in awhile (but I could be wrong).

Yes, can't go wrong with Metropolis.

In the Presence of Enemies pt. 1 or A Nightmare to Remember at the festivals. On the Backs of Angels when the tour starts properly.

This. Most probably ANTR rather then ITPoE though.

relax i was thinking about the tour
I was thinking about the tour as well. Now that I see we're talking about festivals, I'd like to say 6:00, such a great opener that we haven't heard in a while. And it would enable Mangini to start the show, which is awesome.

Aye, agreed. I'm hoping for ITPoE ('cause it worked really well at the BCSL festivals - a surprisingly fantastic opener, wasn't expecting it to be so stellar), but expecting ANTR.

Only thing is that Nightmare's slightly more single-mindedly intense. Presence is pretty all-out rocking, but it's not a full-on audio assault. Nightmare makes sense when promoting the most recent album, but I think as a general mission statement, Presence is a lot better. It's more representative.

ANTR's more probable, though.

I would love a surprise like "Don't look past me".

6:00 with Mangini hitting the octobans :metal :metal

I would like A Nightmare to Remember...great opener, great energy.  I hope Mangini does a drum solo, especially at High Voltage.  Carl Palmer did one last year and it was awesome, plus next year is rumoured to be Rush so Neil will be doing one!  Lets make a tradition of it

 That song was such a great opener at the Maiden show, it pretty much made me want to check out Dream Theater.

If it isn't As I Am I'd like to see them open with 6:00 or Octavarium. (That might not make any sense but I'm in love with that song right now.)

Too weird/out there for a band that's very conservative.  If they play the song at all, they'll use the JLB vocal line that was already written.

ANTR is too long for festivals, at least for a starting song. And it also was the song that opened their main tour last time. Btw half the summer festival shows will propably open with the new single since it will be released by last couple weeks of July I guess. As for the very first shows my guess is The Dance of Eternity.

I agree with you.  I think it will be something from Images & Words.

I doubt it.  I mean, the single could be out by then, but I doubt they open with it.  That would be kind of weird if it's only one song from the new album being performed.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if its on the set list, but that would be a weird opener.

For the actual world tour when the album's been released? Definitely a new song.

The festival gigs coming up? Nightmare to Rmemember?

As I Am seems fitting.

That would be cool, but I hope not. They opened with As I Am for the Maiden shows, and I'd hope they would choose something different. TGP would be my choice  ;D

The Glass Prison? I don't think that's ever gonna happen since it's a part of the AA-saga which MP wrote all the lyrics to and is problaby very personal, likely the same scenario as with Space Dye Vest.

Oh man, I hope they'll still play those songs. I could understand if they decided against playing The Best of Times, but they should play the AA-saga songs...

DarkEternalNight

6:00 would be great, just for the intro.

The first time I saw Dream Theater (World Tourbulence), the only Six Degrees song they played was The Great Debate, though it wasn't the opener.

It will be a cover of the Beatles song, Her Majesty.
