Looking through different forums, especially MP's (no offense intended at all), it just gets annoying reading people saying how they hope the new album doesn't mention MP at all or that the whole situation isn't mentioned.

Why should this be a topic to be avoided? Why can't DT bring it up? It's a way to cope with it by releasing it through an artistic way. Why can't DT express it?

Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford leaving their respective bands was MUCH bigger than this, and neither band wrote a song about it. That kind of melodrama isn't necessary, simple as that. However, I will say that at least it gives DT an emotional topic to write about rather than Freemasons.

But that's wholly irrelevant. These guys are sentimental, down-to-earth dudes. And you know, a band like Iron Maiden or Judas Priest just isn't going to experience much songwriting change or style from the loss of those individuals (yes yes, Virtual XI and The X Factor are atrocious I know). This is Mike Portnoy, the leading force behind the band's everything. Everything has changed and I wouldn't be surprised if "Lost Not Forgotten" is entirely about him, and if "Outcry" is about the fan's reaction.

i have a feeling that fanmade art is gonna stick with it a while, especially if it gets attached to the album in the illegal downloading world.

cant wait to see the real cover

OsMosis2259

I love that fan art work :) I would not mind if that becomes the actual cover!

DT.net has changed the release date from the 13th to the 12th  :)

Probably a Europe (Monday release dates) vs. North America (Tuesday release dates) thing.

I would also like to add, that Bruce Dickinson wasn't a founding member of Iron Maiden. He was probably the best thing to happen to the band, but he wasn't one of the pivotal parts of the band. When they released The X Factor, it was a very dark album because of all the crap that the band had been putting up with. So, they didn't necessarily make a song about it, but they definitely made an album to show the bleakness of the situation.

Hi All,

Sorry I haven't been around, especially since the recent turn of events. Yes, MM is our drummer and we are psyched to begin on this new musical adventure.
Those of you who thought I am in Canada recording my vocals are correct. I am having a blast recording with Rich. We have been doing this recording thing off and on with one another for the last 24 years.
I am heading back into Rich's studio today to begin vocals on the 5th song. Can't wait for everyone to hear the fruits of our labor.

Have a great day and see you around on-line,doing fine.

Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwk.

That's funny

Also, some one at prog archives was itching so HARD to add the new DT album to the site, without official artwork released yet. So either he or someone else added it, and it's already known by some members and mods there that it's fake https://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=78894

Hmmm as James said above he is doing Vocals on 5th song which on tracklisting is The Shaman's Trance and that is the one everyone is presuming to be an instrumental, so can we maybe rule out that song to be an instrumenal?

The 5th song he was tracking doesn't necessarily mean is the 5th song on the album.

Album title is fine to me.  It doesn't sound any worse than Falling into Infinity or Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, both of which were slight WTFs at first glance.  Sometimes, the band sounds like they are trying to be overly clever with their album titles, but this one works for me. :tup :tup

This is the 4th or 5th time in this thread that someone has had to point this out. Not trying to be mean, just find it amusing how many people don't read through the threads.

Yer dude I don't really post here often I was just thought of something I that now appears that over had already noticed, no need to raise any alarms :)

Very cool interview. Not that much new info, but some cool stuff!

"So, early in your life, what music did you listen to?"

Seriously? You're going to ask John Petrucci that trite question that nobody wants to hear him answer anymore?

Really? Personally, I've always loved that title (as well as the cover art). Six Degrees though, yeah, is definitely one that people have no problem with now because it has been around for a while, and is attached to such a great album.

Check what website did the interview, pal. Maybe you don't want to hear him answer those questions anymore, but lots of people who browse and read that site may be interested. Not everyone's a hardcore DT fan like you, mate.

QuoteWhat plans do you have in mind for your next round of touring?
We have thought about the tour. The first tour we're doing is in Europe, a festival tour with some headlining dates, as well. We're playing some interesting places like Russia, Kiev, Rome, everything like that. Initially, it's us getting out there. We'll play a song from the new album, but it will be focused more on the festival scene, and people's introductions to Mike Mangini. When we tour in the fall in support of the record, we'll initiate some of the new concepts, new imagery, new lighting and video presentations, and, of course, the new songs. It'll be something different at that point.

Interesting, won't this be the first time hearing a live version of a DT song prior to its official album release?

No. They played "A Rite of Passage" live before the release of Black Clouds and Silver Linings.

TL

Pretty sure they played quite a few FII songs live, in some form or another, well before the album came out.
