Love TGD, very underrated. The vox in the beginning are very Maynard-ish ("What if someonoe said...") which I feel adds to the eerieness. Defintelya top tier song from 6DOIT. TURN TO THE LIIIIIGHT!

RG93

In order to save this thread from dying, I suggest we discuss Sacrificed Sons.

For me, this song's instrumental is definitely up there with Metropolis pt ! and Octavarium (Full Circle).
I love how JP follows JMX's lead instead of the other way round, like usual.

Mladen

One of my lesser favorites. A rather uninspired song with a predictable chord progression. I'm not into the lyrics neither. The instrumental section has some good ideas, but overall it does not move me in any way.

Jirpo

I quite like SS. Its not one of my faves, but is probably a top 3 from 8VM for me. I like how it builds up from quiet to heavy.

Zydar

One of my favourite songs, for sure. It was awesome to see it live too.

wjc

Just been learning this on bass  :coolio

FretMuppet

#41
The guitar solo over the orchestral section is the definition of epic.

Ben_Jamin

This is a good example of the lyrics fitting the music. The music describes a tragic event has went down, something that's seen as not a good thing.

I agree with your point of view on this, but I still enjoy the song. I mean, it's not their best, by any stretch, but it's decent.

SOoooooo yeah today is my bday!!!! Im sorry i have central time which means is march 9th And i will start right now with IN THE NAME OF GOD i almost cried when i heard it live and is my fav. DT song is just a piece of art, n i hear about 2 hours daily of this song.  ;D  :metal

JayOctavarium

A song that has truely grown on me.

and the lyrics... yea not starting a religious debate... but I love'em!

wjc

What I love about In the Name of God is all the little awesome things, like the counter-melody behind 'saint gone astray...', or the section around that electronic beat bit

Occasional_Madman

A mammoth DT song, top 10 material for sure. Honestly, it's the little intricacies and moments that make the song for me. The electric drum part, the JUS-TI-FY-ING VIOLENCE!!! background screaming, the eat my ass and balls morse code. It all builds up to a hugely emotional climax, and ends the album wonderfully. I approve.  :tup

Yeah for me ITNoG can only be compared with the greatness of the band. Thats how i see it, i cant see another band writting a song like this.

Totally true!
Just another one of those DT songs that are completely amazing in every way
I know a lot of people like to argue about lyrics, but honestly? I don't even pay attention to what they mean.

Only what they make me feel.

Mladen

Zydar

The Budokan DVD was my first listen to this song, it really blew me away.

ThroughHerEyesDude6

Easily the best off of the album, a great song live as well as in studio, and just the overall musicianship is fantastic.

One of their best songs!  I wish they would've played it at the show I went to for Prog Nation 09 but we got something cool too so its alright.  :)

Metro

My favorite track off of ToT. They played it when I saw them on Progressive Nation 09, and it was simply epic.

The Dance of Eternity.

Crazy and awesome

JayOctavarium

best song to make some sweet lovin to

Zydar

Pretty cool instrumental, although not one of my top favourites.

I have memories of this one when I saw them in 2009, the power went out a few times during it. MP kept it going with a drum solo while the crew fixed the power cut. It kept failing during the "Meshuggah riff" but they finally got through it.

ThroughHerEyesDude6

One of my favorite parts of Act II. I also love the transition into "One Last Time".

Aramatheis

Fanfreakin'tastic song. Can't get enough of it!

Great song. Never fails to impress people.

Also played this when I saw them in 09. My friend was with me(he's a huge Rudess fan) and he went berzerk at the Ragtime solo.

I would have done the same, Rudess' little ragtime solo is wonderful :)

Isn't there one in The Dark Eternal Night as well?

Yes.

Well, I'm gonna go ahead.

Home.

It's orgasmic.

rcseeley421

Literally... haha  just kidding   but really, this song has and always be one of the top songs on that album and dare i say in their whole discography. The call back to the original Metropolis lyrics gave me chills the first time i heard it.  :metal

Amazing song. Easily one of SFAM's best. (And one of Rudess' best keyboard solos)

"Her ecstasy - means so much to me
Even deceiving my own blood
Victoria watches and thoughtfully smiles
She`s taking me to my home"
:metal :metal

Gives me chills every time I hear it
In my opinion, this is the best song off of SFAM (but Finally Free, Beyond This Life and Dance of Eternity come so close)
