Tell the truth--when I'm gone, you're going to miss seeing new emoticons every single day, aren't you?

Well, one last thought.  I have to give JLB and the guys credit and take back what I said.  I called for an update about the drummer, criticized the band for being so hush-hush, and blamed them for pushing us to consider a stakeout.  Then, JLB responded with an update within two hours.  That's impressive.  He definitely shut me up.  Thanks, JLB  :)

We need to test it to see if he's really here...

*Clears throat, acts normal* So, nice weather we've been having.

James if you read this the keyword is: Shovel.... Also a shoutout to @TheYtseTimes would be cool.

I'd be pissed and laughing at the same time. Then I would proceed to say "Well played."

Wow.  I never visit the drummer thread, so I'm happy you started a new thread and posted this.  I live on Long Island, about 30 mins from the studio according to Google Maps.  I'll possibly go to the studio and park outside for a couple hours tonight or tomorrow night.  I'd appreciate if someone else tries to call first and see if they can determine the drummer that way.  That seems much easier than being a DT stalker.

At first, I'm hesitant to be sneaky like this.  But to be honest, I'm kinda bugged that DT hasn't been communicating with fans or told us when to expect the announcement.  They said they would take on Portnoy's public relations role in that respect.  This huge drummer issue is their first chance to demonstrate their enhanced fan communication and they haven't lived up to expecations, IMO.

I bet they circled the entire area with police lines, and there's no way in past the armed guards.

Or they put the entire area in amber.

Guys, this is simple. We pull an Egypt and start protesting outside the studio. They won't be able to ignore the dozen or so that show up for very long.

FretMuppet

Wait a sec... if James tweeted his tweet about keeping the drummer hidden, and if he's probably talking about DTF and our ingenious schemes, does that mean that the drummer is in fact with them in the studio?

Dude, if Myung catches us snooping we're F'ed.  I sure as heck aint gonna be on the bad end of Ninja sword for snooping.

If JLB says new guys is there, then you can pretty much bet someone will stake the place out to see.  If the mystery continues then they may be able to hold us off a little while longer.

My guess is the guy has a management or recording contract elsewhere that needs to be resolved before he can "join."

I haven't seen anybody bring this up; apologies if it has been discussed already.  If it is the case (and assume this is true for discussion purposes) that the new drummer has to resolve old management/contracts before "joining", are the members of DT in trouble if we definitively prove who the new drummer is (e.g. film them together at the studio)?  Or, are DT prohibited from revealing the drummer contractually, but if somebody unrelated finds out, then there is no problem?

bosk1

They couldn't be in trouble if the information gets out from a third party source.  But that doesn't mean that fans conducting their own surveillance isn't a bad idea.

ZBomber

This thread is kinda creepy.  :lol

But I also wouldn't mind if someone just happened to find out who the drummer was. You know, by accident.

All those double negatives are making my head hurt...I can't figure out whether you are supporting snooping or not.

Mebert78

To snoop or not to snoop, that is the question.

I asked myself the same question back in the mid 1990s when gangsta rap was really popular.  I chose no Snoop, dawg.  :lol :|

I'm saying that band would not get in trouble, but I still do not think it is a good idea and I still do not support.1

1Keep in mind that this statement is coming from someone who, upon discovering that Transatlantic had left the "band entrance" door in back of the Downey Theater unlocked, and faced with the opportunity to sneak backstage while the band was rehearsing, decided that it was a moral imperative to sneak.  So...yeah.

Think they'll be in the studio on Monday, or do they take President's Day off?

Also, on a completely unrelated note - how do you feel about Spanish food?  I think we should go grab some one of these days.  I hear this place is pretty good.  https://glencove.patch.com/listings/bakery-of-the-world

Moral Imperative.  I like that phrase.

Real Genius is a funny movie.

bosk1

I was going to say "I took it as a devine mandate," but thought that might be just a bit too strong.

Sir GuitarCozmo

Always go with "moral imperative" solely on the basis of the Real Genius reference.

bosk1

Yeah, I know.  But after teaching Val Kilmer that line back in the '80s and seeing him use it onscreen so many times without crediting me (see plagiarism thread), I've become somewhat disenchanted.

Funny you should ask.  I do happen to be a fan of Spanish food, but I've never been to that particular establishment.  I'd love to check it out with you and then maybe go for a relaxing stroll -- or park somewhere nearby and just talk about our day for an hour or so.

Bosky,
Are you saying that we should try to blow up Cove City by setting off multiple bags of microwavable popcorn?

I figure if we leave the bags in the microwaves past the required times the smell will be awful.  The stench may flush those in the studio rooms to head for the exits.  Then we can get that pic.

Brilliant.

bosk1

Bad plan.  The HVAC systems in studios are notoriously inadequate.  I have little confidence that the smell from the kitchen would be carried into the actual studio room where DT is working.  Plus, you could be arrested for attempted arson.

TL

While I can't wait to hear who the drummer is, the OP skeeves me out more than a bit.
