I'm just a little bothered by this. Only because...well...wasn't this supposed to be a limited edition box set? I mean, I kind of recall them announcing a second shipment or something upon the albums release. But wow, $45. And to think, I paid $130 for mine.

Plasmastrike

Yeah, it's pretty stupid. These box sets just aren't worth it in my eyes anymore.

I spent $130 on this thing and haven't touched it since. Not to mention the mousepad is horrible quality. $45, not that's a decent deal for it.

hefdaddy42

It was a limited edition.  But apparently, not all of them sold, so they are selling the remaining ones at a cut rate to get rid of them.  That's economics.

Yeah, money is a little tight here. Maybe you should get it for me fro Christmas, dad.

We'll see.

Alright, but I've been good this year (no hookers), so consider that.

The Letter M

I guess they don't mind selling them cheaper, especially considering the "Silver Ticket' probably won't be valid for any future tours now.

I'm kind "RAGE FACE GUY-FUUUUUUU" right now, but I'm glad I got mine when I did, and it's pretty sweet. If anyone can get it that hasn't already and for only $45, seriously consider getting it. You get 3CDs, the Producer's DVD Stem-Tracks, the 2-Vinyl set, the mouse pad, and a very fuzzy case.

I feel bad for those who had them and were going to use them for the cancelled NA 2010 tour. At least you could probably frame it, or get the band to sign it as a cool piece of memorabilia.

Perpetual Change

Sweet deal. I also think people probably should have assumed this would happen.

TL

If there hadn't been a silver ticket in mine way back when I got mine, I'd be upset about this.

Dr. DTVT

I'm only upset that they didn't sell all the original stock.

Also, that the Wither EP offer isn't retroactive.  If anyone deserves it, it is the original purchasers.

Perpetual Change

I really do hope to god the era of the big box-sets is over. I know record sales are down and all, but it shouldn't cost half a fortune to buy the *best* version of an album every time one comes out.

ZBomber

I saw this this morning, and considered buying it... but then I realized I don't even care that much about Dream Theater anymore.

I think it's safe to say the overly steep price had something to do with that.

It's a nice set and all, but the original price was pretty outrageous.

I think I remember hearing somewhere that they initially sold 10-12 thousand out of the 14,000, which would be pretty impressive at that price.

Slain

Lol, anyone see the "Reviews" Section?

Almost as bad as octavarium
One of their worst albums to date: cheesy, poorly thought out, songs don't work together or even with themselves. Yeah it has 2 or 3 good songs some tasty covers but 45 minutes of it is shocking.

if money wasn't so tight right now I would jump on this

Metropolis Pt. II

When I saw that I was so bummed out.
I have already purchased:
The Standard Edition
The Special Edition
The Double-LP

Basically I've got most of the Deluxe Edition on my cd rack already. Frick.

wolfking

I paid $130 for mine, but I am really not bothered by this.  I don't know why everyone else would be, did anyone seriously consider when it came out to wait like a year and half just to get $85 bucks off...of course not.  I wanted it when it came out and I brought it full price, there's no problem, everything gets reduced after time.

Just bought this, be nice to have.  Plus I really need a mousemat.  :D

ReaperKK

At first I thought I wanted it but I then realized I probably wouldn't look at it more than 5 minutes when I got it, especially since I'm not a fan of BC&SL.

Mindflux

GAH! That sucks, I bought mine about 2 months ago with a 15% off coupon. I thought $110 or whatever I paid was a good deal.

Algo Fonix

I'd love to jump on this... but I just got through buying most of my Christmas gifts for the year... so I'm broke now.  :sadpanda:

Scard

I would have got this, BUT, I had ir pre-ordered back in the day through Amazon, and they cancelled my orders and I got shafted and ended up buying the 3 disc edition. SOOO annoying.

chrisbDTM

i cant complain because i got a silver ticket out of it when it was released

but i havent touched it since. i guess i listen to the stems every once in a while

I really wish the stems were unmixed. Raw stems would have been WAY more fun to play with for me at least. I do audio engineering

TL

If they release stems again in the future, I'd like to have lead and backing vocals on separate tracks.

pinchylarue

yah i got a silver ticket too. What do you guys think will happen with them? will they honor them on the next tour?

blackngold29

Would it really be that much of a burden to let them be used? It's what, like ten people total?

If they do meet & greets on the next tour, there's really no reason for them not to allow it. There were only 100 to begin with, and I'm guessing most of them have been used.

Each "stem" is heavily processed already, with compression, effects etc. He wants to have the raw recordings, to actually do what a sound engineer does.

Perpetual Change

So based on the stems, how much better of a production could you actually give the album?
