I understand that since Portnoy has left Dream Theater there has been a lot of drama not only around the band but also where the fans of the band gather to discuss Dream Theater. There is no right or wrong implied in this thread, simply a welcome to all those who are new here or who are once again becoming active.

I would like to point out that nothing diffuses any tensions you might have over the situations at hand like visiting one of our other wonderful sub-forums, especially general discussion and general music where you can discuss various other interests and other bands (including solo material of DT members.) I encourage you to go to General Discussion and use various sticky threads like the profile thread and the introduction thread so we can better get to know you as you integrate into the family and community of DTF.

So once again, welcome, check out the rest of the forum if it interests you, and enjoy your stay.

Yeah, like, I need more people to argue with me about The Incident right now!!!

And if new members are wondering, yes, every conversation will lead to Kevin Moore or Porcupine Tree.

Thanks for the welcome, I like what I've seen and read so far.

I love this album, what are your thoughts on it?

^Easily their worst album to my ears. 75 minutes of really dissatisfying music. It is pretty good live at least.

faizoff

I was very cautious when the album came out and read many reviews slamming the album. To my joy I loved the album on first listen itself. It seemed like a logical progression from Fear of a Blank Planet. For me it's a mix of sky, signify and stupid dream.

FOABP is my fav Gavin-era album. In Absentia has the best sonic presentation. While I like In Absentia a little more than The Incident, it's still a very strong album.

Or the inverse, OSI, with is a Kevin Moore band with a Porcupine Tree member in it (albeit one album)... :lol

lol. We agree! But about half of it is good.

Definitely PC's Systmatic Chaos. It's a step in the right direction, with more than a few mishaps along the way. See the PT thread.

Lyrically their Systematic Chaos is Fear, and musically it's The Incident. 30 minutes or so of great music on a 80 minute disc. Yup...

Actually SC is better than FOABP lyrically, because at least no-one is hitting you over the head about taking DARK MASTER as seriously as LOOK AT THESE DUMB FUCKING KIDS WALKING AROUND IN THE MALL ON THEIR PILLS.

PC, be quiet.  The noobs will see your posts and assume everyone here fails on the same epic scale that you do and they'll leave.

Porcupine Tree? I listen to them when I can't fall asleep.   :lol

Well, there's a time and a place and a type of music for everything.
