Could DT keep the new drummer a secret if they wanted to?

I remeber when Queensryce announced that they had hired a replacement for Chris DeGarmo back when they were recording Q2K.  I was a member of their forums back then, and they posted a pic or two of Kelly with his face covered by his hair so you couldn't see who it was.  They were able to keep his identity a secret until close to album release, as I recall.  The Internet existed at the time, but wasn't nearly what it is today. 

With the Internet what it is, and as hard as it is to keep stuff like this a secret nowadays for any extended period of time, if DT wanted to keep the identiy of their new drummer a secret until album release, do you think they could?

I'm sure there will be tons of rumor mill stuff fueled by "inside sources", and the official name will likely float around blabbermouth for a few weeks before getting announced.

~In this day and age I would say it is almost impossible to keep a secret like this. Word will leak out, but whether it will initially be believed is another matter, not until the band officially announce it. Every internet idiot will be proclaiming themselves "The Dragon Reborn"!

I don't think the new drummer's name will remain secret until the album's release. If they try to hide it, the information will leak somehow. Also, I think they'll announce the new drummer before going into studio.

To be honest when people talk about spoilers related to albums whether they be the names of the songs or length of the songs artwork or whatever, they don't spoil anything for me. Whether they announce the name of the new drummer either before they go into the studio or just before release I have the same sort of anticipation for an album.

For me spoilers take more importance with movies, shows and books and maybe setlists for concerts. That doesn't mean I deride anyone else who want to remain spoiler free with regards to music.

With that said it's going to be a long wait for the new DT album and I for one can't wait.

It would be awesome if it was cryptically released. Through a serious of videos and apps by Jordan. Complete the app puzzle and find the the pirates treasure to see a picture of the new drummer. I would buy that app.

Wow, that app would keep the information hidden for months!!!! That is, months for the guy without internet, on which the first guy to finish the app starts a thread about who it is.

Right up until the album is released? No I don't think so. I think they'd be capable of keeping it secret for a reasonable while, but by the time they go into the studio people would know, so they'll have to announce it before then.
