Hey, community.

I think that's a real cool idea. I am not sure what I'm going to do, but I'd definitely love to participate.  I think by 4/20/2010 I'll have an idea.   :P

staveoffzombies

I would be interested in contributing as well.

one more thing though, maybe we should do this for each band member.
i mean, i get that mike is the most loved and most active in most eyes...
but id be kinda mad if my bandmate got a 30 minute long video of people thnaking him
then my birthday comes around and i et nothing.
i would just feel kinda unappreciated, but i guess thats just me...

and, if there is a way for me to get the videos onto my mac, i can MAYBE do the editing.
no promises though
but maybe

Oh man, are you ever wrong. :rollin

Yeah I mean I get what you're saying.  The reason I chose Mike in particular is because in reality, he probably gets the most shit from the fans, aside from *maybe* LaBrie.

MP definitely gets the most shit from fans. I think JR takes second though. JLB can take third. ok? :D

I disagree; I think a lot of people miss Kevin Moore, but not so much at JR's expense.  But people absolutely shit all over everything MP does; they blame him for "mediocrity" and call him a prick, and then JLB, well, that's a well-known story.

Yes.

I think JLB takes most shit from first time listeners. In our circle of fans, I think MP has the one with most critique lately.

Yes, we heard you. :p

I think you're absolutely right though; MP gets most of his criticism from hardcore fans like us, who've heard the entire discography and who idealize the pre-SDOIT days, or if you're a real proghole, the pre-SFAM days.

Sixtease

I like the idea of covering a song. We could agree on one, everybody interested would record their interpretation of whatever instrument / vocals, somebody would mix it, using different people in different moments and that would be the background to the thank you's.

3MinuteWarning

I'm definitely in.  Might be an idea to mention where you're from in the clip to accentuate the geographical extent of the DT community.

Well there are the random cries of circus music and ragtime solos when they're not all that common, they don't like the way he plays solos live etc. I'd still call JR a close second.

I very much agree. From non-DT fans JLB gets more stick because the singer is always more instantly noticable, but from fans of the band JR definitely gets more unnecessary and inappropriate hate.

I think the thing with the JR criticism is that it basically revolves around two or three things: His solos and the (alledgedly strange) ragtime/vaudeville/circus trips. I don't see as much criticism about his use of pad patches (again mostly excluding his lead patch) and his way to support the song when he's accompanying.
JLB, however, gets shit for pretty much everything about his vox.

BFRedrocks

Count me in for this.  Like others, I'm sure in the next 11 months or so I can come up with something for 10 seconds...
