At the moment, DT has not announced an opening act for the Portland show, so I thought I would kick around a few (silly) ideas:

1) Big Wreck - I'm sure they're farting around waiting for some action

2) Eisenstein - anyone remember them?

3) Planet X - This would be both cool and ironic at the same time

4) The Beth Hart Band - Haha, hard to believe she actually played on the same bill with DT once.

5) Our Lady Peace - Superman is dead, and so is their career

cyberdrummer

Presto Ballet confirmed as opening act.

RaiseTheKnife

Thanks for the info.  Just listened to a sample.  They sound very "Spock's Beard."

Cool Chris

One month from today!!! :caffeine: Anyone else from here going besides glaurung and myself?
Maybe the grass is greener on the other side because you're not over there fucking it up.

glaurung

I think you, Lat, and I are the only people from DTF who live in the Northwest. I'm not sure if he's going or not though.

Ytsejammin

You aren't the only people out here that have a DT complex! Does Boise , Idaho count as "out here"? I'm going to try my best to get there. But I already bought tix to Bernardino and Concord before they announced the Portland show.

RaiseTheKnife

I'm flying up from Los Angeles to see the Portland show.  Never been to that city, so let me know if there is any "must do's" there.

Seeing DT in San Bernardino, so I'm getting my double dip of DT that weekend.

Up from LA? That's a long way to go for a concert!

Not even close to a long way, furthest was Japan. Portland is just a skip up the coast

I'm going to the show with my brother and a friend. I'm new to the board but I've been a huge DT fan since '03. Only seen them once in '04. It's going to kick ass!! :hefdaddy

Dittomist

Ahhhhhh I am so excited!!! I think it has been over 6 years since Dream Theater has come to the Land of Ports. Just a couple more weeks!
For those traveling to Portland for the show and want to see some breathtaking Pacific Northwest scenery, the Columbia River Gorge is a short drive. And if you just want a cool place to hang out in town, then I recommend the Hawthorne & Belmont districts in SE Portland. And if you want to visit the biggest bookstore you'll ever see, Powell's isn't far away from the venue.

Another Oregon fan going to the Roseland show. I just found this fansite last night  I have seen a few shows in Portland. I have seen Children of Bodom 3 times. Metallica at the Rose Garden. Megadeth in Salem. A7X at the Memorial Coliseum. And I am seeing Dream Theater in Portland on the 21st then driving up to Auburn to see them and Maiden on the 22nd. I am also going to See Lady Gaga twice in August and plan to see A7X and Megadeth in September. I also have season tickets to the Trail Blazers.

I have a few questions about the show

1) How many songs to you think they will play? I know most of their songs are really long but whats a safe estimate?

2) Are camera's allowed at the Roseland? I have never tried taking one in before.

3) Anybody going to the Auburn,WA show know if Camera's are allowed there?

4) Is there any chance to meet DT after the show? Outside the Roseland there is a gated off area where the bands park their tour buses.

Thanks guys, I can't wait to see them for the first time.

Cool Chris

Sharp-Shooter, welcome to the forums. I don't think this sub-section gets viewed much. I've never been to the Roseland but am looking forward to it. I can't remember if it's been mentioned anywhere how much time DT will get.

I'll be at the Aurburn show too but have only been there once, and don't have any idea what their camera policy is. Ifyou're driving up, and have never been there, I suggest parking at the Supermall and taking the free shuttle. The drive to the amphitheater and parking can be a bit of a bitch.
Maybe the grass is greener on the other side because you're not over there fucking it up.

-Sharp-Shooter-

Do you think waiting 5 hours in line will be long enough to get a front row spot at the Auburn show? I waited 4 hours for Metallica and I got a front row spot.

Cool Chris

I've only been to WH Amphitheater once, and had reserved seats, so never had to bother waiting in line. I would think 5 hours would be more than enough, but don't take my word for it.

Ytsejammin

I just got my tixs today for my brother and myself. Now I'm going to 3 shows. See you guys in line or at the will call office! I've only been to the airport in Portland so I'm really looking forward to it.

-Sharp-Shooter-

Ok I didn't see a thread for the Auburn show so ill ask here. Since tickets for the Auburn show are paperless does that mean my ticket is my debit card that I bought the tickets with?

Cool Chris

Yes, bring your credit/debit card that you purchased your ticket with to the Amphitheater.

Cool to see another person hitting up both shows!

squatch41

I can't wait for this show! Driving down from Seattle with the incomparable dtfanatic himself!

Hope my squatchness doesn't block any of your views. HA!

-Sharp-Shooter-

@ Cool Chris. Im kinda pissed we didn't get tickets. I like to keep it to remember the show. Maybe we will get a bracelet if we are in the GA floor area. Who knows.

glaurung

Cool Chris

Just realized that myself. Cool that we are getting the first headlining show. Trying to plan my trip since I'll be comign down from Seattle that day, don't want to be too early but don't want to get stuck in any traffic either.

2) Are camera's allowed at the Roseland? I have never tried taking one in before.

Saw this on the Roseland's website:

Q: What are your policies regarding photo/video/audio?
A: Recording policies are at the band's discretion and change night to night. You may bring yoru camera with the understanding that you might need to take it back to your car before the show starts.

RipTheSystem

New member to this board but long time DT fan.
I'm visiting Seattle for Summer and have no car.
I'm looking for a ride share to the Portland gig.
I'm willing to pay half the gas cost of travel.

Here is my history of seeing DT live...

Octavarium/Gigantour 2005 Orlando FL
Octavarium/Gigantour 2005 Tampa FL
Octavarium/Dark Side Of The Moon show 2005 London England
G3 JP with MP 2007 Orlando FL
Systematic Chaos 2008 Seattle WA
Liquid Tension Experiment 2008 San Francisco CA

This gig would make a good show to roundup my DT live experiences.

Thanks
Cody

-Sharp-Shooter-

I'm going to email the Roseland early on Monday asking if cameras are allowed in but does anybody know if cameras are allowed at the Auburn show?

glaurung

Cool Chris

We need a :pumped: icon

24 hours. Hope to see you guys there. I'll be the awkward looking guy in the Floyd shirt standing all by himself.

Wait... that's not going to narrow me down at all!
Maybe the grass is greener on the other side because you're not over there fucking it up.

-Sharp-Shooter-

Ill be wearing shorts, a black Systematic Chaos shirt and some Fancy lookin Nike shoes. ill probably be in line around 2. I think thats too early but my friends want to go that early so w/e.

Hey guys, first post here. I'll be at the Portland show tonight. Can't wait to see DT for the first time since the ToT tour in 2004. I'll be wearing an Iron Maiden Killers t-shirt tonight. Hopefully there's a merch booth inside the venue to buy a DT t-shirt.

Someone posted a question about cameras at the venue. I've attended many shows here and most bands are obliging when it comes to fans using cameras. I had my camera with my during the ToT tour and no one objected. I would doubt DT would object this time either but who knows? Did anyone call the venur regarding this? If so please share your findings.

Thanks,
Supreeth

Can anyone post the setlist during the show or use Twitter? I'm really anxious to see how long the DT set is for the headlining shows, and to see if they play a generally similar setlist to what was being played a few months back.

Me and a couple of friends are driving up for the Auburn show. We're seriously thinking about the shuttle as the road to the venue is quite bad and congested. Are many people from here taking the shuttle?

Thanks!
Supreeth

I'd rather not do it during the show but I will be posting a setlist here and in the setlist thread when I get home.
