If it sounded like I was marginalizing his role in Goodfellas, I completely didn't make my point well. I know that top billing doesn't equal most important character or most screen time. I was trying to say that despite not having top billing (which often goes to the biggest name despite prominence in the film - think Brando in Superman), and despite not even being nominated for an Oscar, how many of us thought "Oh yeah, he was awesome in Goodfellas" when they saw the news? His commanded our attention every single time he was on screen, which is a LOT in a 2.5 hour long movie, while being surrounded by many talented actors.
