That's awesome gmillergrake, something similar happened to me at the ADTOE tour!
So the VIP people see the band after the show? I always thought it was before.

So did I. But, the same people I noticed leaving the Pre show meet and greet were exiting the stage door to the street after the show. One of them even gave my oldest son his VIP Distance over Time lanyard as he walked by us.

whaaaaaa! They meet the band before and after the show?! That's well worth the extra dough.

Saw them last night and they were really, really great. James was on point as well as the rest of the band.

Not entirely accurate.  The VIP experience is before the show.  The aftershow is separate, you can't buy that.  You have to be invited, or know someone.  However, it is not uncommon that some VIPs also have aftershow passes.

So, they are two separate groups, but sometimes have some overlap.

I was at the aftershow last night in Charlotte, but I did not have VIP stuff before the show.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

I just saw Scenes From A Memory live, all the way through, standing right in the front, occasionally leaning on the stage, this was a dream come true. Tomorrow I do it again, now I sleep.

I had never had a chance to see SFAM live in its entirety, and it is my second favorite album (close second behind Six Degrees).  But I have played LSFNY a TON through the years.  If they had done it exactly like they presented it back then, it still would have been cool.  But I'm really glad they changed up the presentation.  I got to see an album I really love, but with a slightly new twist.  I thought it was fantastic.

I was at the Dallas show, and it was incredible. James was amazing! The energy in the place was good during the first set, but holy shit did it go to 11 during Scenes! You can feel how loved that album is.

There was a guy in my row that flipped over the seats in front of us to get one. I’m not even sure if he got it!

Meanwhile, a dipshit on the other side of the stage caught one and tossed it back at JP, JLB picked it up and tossed it back again.
I caught mine mid-air.
JLB teared up while singing Through Her Eyes and afterwards said its difficult for him to sing that song, he was wiping away actual tears, anybody else noticed or got a clue why?

Because it's an incredible and emotional song and he has to go all in in order to sing it that way?

He dedicated it to his longtime friend that had passed away recently when they played it in St. Paul. Maybe that’s why.

Notes from last night in Houston:

-- Holy fuck was it loud.
-- Agree with the poster that said that's about as "metal" as they've sounded.  Which made this old fan very happy.
-- The "Beautiful Agony" part of ANTR was pretty sweet.
-- ITPOE is so much more fun live.
-- BW and PBD live are just sick.  And PBD is not as high up on my d/t list, but still.
-- The unison at the end of "Fatal Tragedy", with Jordan (on the key-tar!) and John on the catwalk was utterly badass.  Loved that our dudes got up there and rock star posed!
-- Through Her Eyes is as beautiful as it's ever been.
-- I never get tired of PMU.  Was my gateway to my favorite band, so it always brings back great memories.  And it's still in my personal Top 10 of all-time.
-- Holy fuck was it loud.

A lot of fun, and I can't wait to see them next time!!

I was front and center Monday night in Dallas, and just wanted to echo what others are saying.  It was an unforgettable concert, but James' performance was fantastic.  He was on fire and sounded amazing.  Of course the whole band was tight, but James really stood out and had complete command vocally.  Excellent job Mr. LaBrie!

I have just seen the clip with JP and JR on Facebook, that they have a different set for the european Festival Tour, which is logical, they can‘t play a normal set, I just hope, that  they still play there normal set for the few headlining shows(like in Dresden, where I have tickets for) they will do.
Do you know anything about that, Bosk?

Same question ... Bosk? I got tickets for the Athens show not being a festival?

Damn. Might have been one my top 3 DT gigs ever. Band was on fire last night in Austin. Did the meet and greet and won an after show pass from the DT-USA fan club  gathering before the show (I won the trivia).

The gig itself was amazing. Never got to listen to SFAM in a live setting. I got the B setlist when I saw them in Phoenix back in 2000. Listeing to the full album just gave me chills and goosebumps everywhere. Really loved the new animations for SFAM. John's tone is out of this world. Although with all the guitar changes throughout the set, I felt like JP was selling Ernie Ball guitars and the guitars were saying "Buy me buy me". Every single guitar looked very nice. The screens and projections from both sets were stunning. I was hoping for more d/t material but James said they will be touring in the fall again.

The after show thing was good but it was a bummer that only Jordan and Mike showed up. It was the last show of the tour so its kind of understandable. Both were very friendly and talked to everyone. Mike is almost done with his solo album. He is waiting on something. Interestingly, I didn't know Mike uses hearing aids. Was kind of surprised when I saw that since he is like in his mid-50s.

@geeeemo:  Hard to say, but I'm not counting on it.  I haven't asked because that isn't really a "band issue."  It's an issue with tour booking and promotion, and I don't really know the people that handle that.  But I get the sense that there isn't a huge market for them here.  This isn't a very big city, and I'm not sure they could fill a moderate sized hall.  And we don't really have anything that fits the size of venue they usually book that will book a metal show.  I think they're content to just go with what has worked.
