The only angle I could sort of understand is a nostalgic angle. To me, and I assume many others, Blackest Eyes was the first PT-experience. I started with In Absentia, and I know a lot of others did as well. That powerful opening metal riff, the beautiful melody during the verse, and of course the catchy chorus really got me hooked right away. I think there's no question about Trains being a better song than Blackest Eyes, but Blackest Eyes might have been the very first a lot of people heard of PT, and first experiences are always nostalgic and nice.
