So far. It will definitely cut come things down the road due to the shorter time slot.

Maybe because it's the warm-up show, they're playing it safe. But who knows. The current set is still awesome and needs to be seen. :tup

Same setlist with enough subtle changes to make it worthwhile, but disappointing they didn't shake it up more. Still, a fantastic show despite a few sound problems, and Space Dye Vest was sublime.

The bit about 'subtle changes' was confusing ... just to confirm, any change in the setlist ? Thanks !

Well, they're mostly playing cities they missed on the first leg, so I understand if they want to keep the setlist the same, but this must be disappointing if you've seen them already. We'll see if they make some changes in Paris, since they played there in January.

Sheffield may be a different city, but it was the same old crowd.

I might be attending a show in Brescia some two weeks from now, and that's 30 minutes away from Milan. Still, the chances they change the setlist are slim.

Anyway, video of Finally Free. From what I can hear the band seemed pretty tight, with James sounding overall very ok with only minimal hints of the usual tour kickoff shoddiness. Very good!

Sorry, was texting those few comments from my phone - am back in front of a keyboard now, so can type a little more!

Another great show! Despite the disappointment at the lack of any setlist changes, this is still a great setlist, even if I was sitting thru it for the third time! I'll be a bit miffed if they do make any changes in Paris or elsewhere, as this is their only UK headlining show. I can't really complain, as this was the risk I took in going.

The sound was a bit muddy in places during the first half - The Shattered Fortress seemed to suffer for it, and Along For the Ride was a mess, but the highlights shone through. They got it sorted by the second half, which was better all round - Lifting Shadows was awesome, and Space Dye Vest was truly spectacular, JP nailed the solo at the end, it sent shivers up my spine - magical. Illumination Theory held together surprisingly well, the band were so tight, even if the song does have 4 minutes of dead air in the middle of it. Finally Free was the other highlight - and I managed to shake hands with 4 of them at the end!

A few other observations:

The best advice I can ever give anyone is NEVER EVER DRIVE INTO SHEFFIELD. The city is a rabbit warren and nothing is signposted.

The screen at the back of the stage has developed a few dead pixels.

I think Jordan might have a new keyboard sound - he used it during TSF and The Mirror, but it's hard to tell in the live environment. In any event, there was lots of new keyboard parts. There was a new keyboard solo in The Mirror (did they f*ck up the intro part? JP certainly dropped a duff note earlier in the night, its nice to know he is human!), a short jam in Scarred, beefed up drum spot in Trial of Tears, etc. JP's guitar was much more brutal during Illumination Theory.

Song of the Night - Space Dye Vest
Man of the Match - JMX. The bass was thudding through the floor, up my legs and touched me in my special place. I've never quite appreciated before just what a powerhouse Myung is.

Arse of the night - For once, not the three guys in Row A Who wouldn't STFU, but the girl in the front row who was wearing a skirt so short you could see what she had for breakfast. I'm even convinced JLB was sneaking a look down her top...

This band has amazingly become.............BORING!!!!!!!!! :loser:

Sadly, after 25 years of loving them and 20+ live shows, I have to agree. The "same" set made up in large part from arguably, their weakest ever album, was lazy and very disappointing.  No-one expects them to swap complete sets between nights anymore :( but they SHOULD have been able to bring in at least 4 or 5 different songs since the tour. So GLAD I didn't waste any money on those ridiculously high Sheffield prices.

Two more thinking the same way - my son and I have followed the band since 2000 but both agreed last night that the shows have lost their spark and spontanaiety and are quite 'mechanical'now... :-(

Geez, peeps.  At least, this is a band that celebrates album anniversaries with meaning and showcased new material at the same time.  I would like it if certain bands, I like, do that.  I would like to see a setlist change as well, but we'll see.  They got to play a different setlist at Sonisphere, guarantee, since I will tell you that the festival goers won't get the theme of the setlists of their headlining shows and won't probably care for it.

I wonder if the band get bored of playing the same songs every night?

Met some guys afterwards and we waited next to the tour busses for an hour and a half.... But they left without us seeing but we sung quite a few songs outside..... Haha

Really great gig! Bit of a shame they didn't shake the set up a little - but it's still DT and it is still my personal favorite set i've seen them play.

I thought the roof was going to take off when JP hit the intro on The Mirror - and same with Illumination Theory too! Heavy doesn't describe it  :metal

4 handshakes at the end - managed to miss Mangini again but never mind ... thought JM was going to take my hand off! That's one hell of a handshake

He was definitely going for a sneaky look, saw him do it a few times! I was a couple of seats away from her and she was rocking from start to finish!!! That was a ridiculously short skirt though  :eek

No setlist changes...that's very disappointing to be honest...i'm considering the chance to sell my ticket.

I had a good ticket for the Sheffield show but got a reasonable heads-up it was going to be same setlist so I gave it away for a nominal figure. Thing is, I never would have considered not going to a show just a few short years ago. Times change. For me, the show is more mechanical (good word, thanks!) now than it ever was.

Apart from meeting the usual crowd of Voicees, I didn't miss anything. Glad many people did enjoy it, of course.

With the show being advertised with a support, and cheaper tickets than Wolverhampton, I thought it was a nailed-on 'festival warm-up'gig. TBH I'm not sure what was the point of slotting it in just as carbon-copy of the February dates.
