Dream Theater - Full Album Stream Sept 16 (details in OP)

I don't recall a single album that was "ruined" by soundcloud. All albums (that I heard) that sounded bad on soundcloud sounded as bad on CD.
...but some fans like to delude themselves that, say, the recent Queensryche album sounds fine on CD.

Anytime anyone ever says " Of course it will sound bad on the soundcloud / download - it will sounds WAY better on the CD . "

- it's sounded pretty much the same on CD - just a touch brighter and wider. Not magically fixed in every possible way.

I clearly remember everyone saying Death magnetic would not sound so distorted on CD and we all know it sounded worse.

I can last a week without hearing the album. Since I ordered the boxset, if I don't get my album on release day or before, I can enjoy the download.

Why do you all moan about the sound quality? All I ever see on this forum about the album is complaints about that! What really matters is the music. The sound is good enough. It's not like you get crackles or you can't hear the overall picture.

Why can't you accept the fact that people derive pleasure from the sonic qualities of music, not just the composition?

Kinda weird. Keep a super tight clamp on it and then release it early. Maybe they figured it would end up leaking so
just roll with it. Oh well, I guess I'll listen and go from there.

Wow, this is a huge leap in the dark. I think I would have preferred they not do this. It essentially means they are leaking their own album with really poor sound quality. And you know someone is going to record it and post it on youtube or something, defeating the purpose of only having it up for 24 hours.

That said, I'll listen to it once or maybe twice the day it comes out. If this is the way they want to present their album, then I'll tag along like a good fanboy.

Yeah, it's the same thing when you read a book (like ASOIAF that I'm reading) or watch movies and shows. The difference is that when you tell people facts about an album, people don't necessarily want to butcher you alive.

If the album is streamed on Monday, that means that I have to avoid it for a week, and I'll have to avoid DTF for a week. I don't want the album spoiled. I like coming to an album with fresh ears.

Some of us have waited long enough.  I will get to work early just to listen to this in peace.  For me, previews/streams/clips can increase the excitement for the actual release.
