QuoteThis coming Monday, September 16th, Dream Theater will premiere a full album stream of their new self-titled record. Check back here at 10am EST to listen to the full record before it's out!

10am Eastern Time, 3pm UK time (2pm GMT)

UK stream: https://www.progrockmag.com/news/dream-theater-stream-new-album-here-today/

(streamed for one week)

Zydar

Yeah, I just saw that on FB!

I'm on the fence if I should give it a listen or not. Depends a little on the stream quality.

mikeyd23

Whoa!!! Thats great! Can't wait till Monday!  :metal :metal :metal

Will the stream be up all day? I start work at 10 am  :(

I know they won't leave it up for days, but I hope it is up at least until that night.

And so the day is set when we hear it. Great, very much looking forward to it. I'm fairly sure it will crash the site it's hosted on, whatever it is. :D

I reckon it'll be up for at least 24 hours.

What DT says:
"This coming Monday, September 16th, Dream Theater will premiere a full album stream of their new self-titled record. Check back here at 10am EST to listen to the full record before it's out!"

What I hear:
"We've noticed the album hasn't leaked yet, so we leak it ourselves officially" :/

Weird, but cool I guess

BlobVanDam

So I guess from the stream date, we're allowed to fully discuss the new album as we would normally be allowed to on release date? :metal

MoraWintersoul

Everyone does that, so I'm glad they're doing it too.

Wouldn't be surprised if the whole album is being streamed the week after.

Holy shit definitely listening to this. I hope the servers of the stream handle the traffic well or it'll be a frustrating listen. :( 10am EST is a pretty good time for me, too, which is nice.

Counting the hours already.

I might actually skip this.  Not sure yet.  I sort of have a ritual for listening to a new album for the first time, and it wouldn't be possible with an online stream.  We'll see.

Cool, at any rate.

Holy Fucking SHIT !!!!!!!!!!!!111111!!!!

Another longest weekend, FUCK!!!!!!!

If the stream is Soundcloud quality then I'm waiting for the actual release.

Same. The singles were hard enough to listen to with sound cloud quality but I can only imagine how weird listening to a whole epic at that quality would be.

jmasterx

Probably because the Japan release is not long after so they probably figure this will help reduce mass piracy and distribution.

This. Right now I'm leaning towards not listening to the stream.

Very sweet, I should be able to squeeze in a full listen before work. :metal

This is AWESOME!!!   :hefdaddy

Not sure what how I'm going to function after the disc comes out though, DT has been making my Mondays much better than usual lately (actually something to look forward to).   This has been an excellent build up for the disc release.  I'm about ready to explode!

Why do you all moan about the sound quality? All I ever see on this forum about the album is complaints about that! What really matters is the music. The sound is good enough. It's not like you get crackles or you can't hear the overall picture.

stellarnight

The temptation...I shall not...alright i have given in. Bring it on DT! :metal

Hey, that reminds me.  Anyone know what today is?  :friday:

Wait for it...

?

DT know how to make people wait for Monday anxiously :lol

On a side note, DTF will easily destroy the 1k online marker that day...

Definitely! Depending on how controversial the album is I see the bar being rised to 1200-1600 hits!

I think I'll listen to it but will wait to read about sound quality, as far as I remember only stone sours' house of gold & bones II sounded great on soundcloud close to how it sounded on the album. Then again I cant recall if it was soundcloud, whatever stream they used it was great.
Devour Feculence!

Bolsters

All I care about is that the server it's streamed from can cope with the demand, and provide a smooth stream to all of us. Dropouts and constant pauses for buffering are not something I think I could handle at this point. :\
