not sure if this has been posted:
https://www.metalsucks.net/2013/08/15/john-petrucci-says-between-the-buried-and-me-periphery-and-animals-as-leaders-influenced-and-shaped-the-new-dream-theater-album/

seeing as DT, BTBAM, and Periphery are my top 3 favorite bands. this is SICK

i know people might get uptight over the headline but what I would take away from it is Periphery and AAL = more low grooves ( I don't see Petrucci playing stuff at a Tosin Abasi level) and BTBAM influence can be anything cause they are all over the map

it's kind of incredible that Petrucci inspired Periphery and BTBAM, now they inspired him. full circle

"In related news, Misha Mansoor, Tosin Abasi, and Paul Waggoner have all been spotted walking around with ear-to-ear smiles today."

Interesting stuff. But yeah, it's kind of funny that they posted his direct quote and it wasn't even close to what the headline is saying.

I noticed that as well.

Metalsucks does that a lot.
So does Ultimate Guitar for that matter.

Well, it's a good thing that Blabbermouth has enough integrity to actually coax the headline they're looking for out of the artist, even if they're only quoting a small fragment of the overall statement.

Ultimate Guitar is the worst. Most of the times their headlines have absolutely nothing to do with the story.

On the flip side, Blabbermouth has an atrocious comments section. And even if Metalsucks does have misleading headlines from time to time, they usually get the info out that's needed, and have a lot of awesome 3rd string writers.

I'm not overly familiar with AAL, but since Periphery and BTBAM are amazing, this might be interesting.

Anyone have a hi-res picture of the album cover art for a desktop background?
https://s3.amazonaws.com/assets.rr.roadrunnerrecords.com/94d3d3b0-a1c7-44c6-913a-725a17b9a18a-1373443824/DT.New.WEB.Cover.jpg (Current version)

Why did I have to look at this? The top left corner original J. J. Abrams lense flare from behind the planet™ is still cut off diagonally.
I wouldn't dare to deliver unfinished material like that, at least not for anything that's supposed to be beyond a very rough preview.
That makes me one very sad panda design & graphics guy. Why isn't there an emoticon for that? A crying pixel or something.

Greetings...

I'm pretty sure it won't be noticable in print - which is the important part. The things i've gotten away with because I know the printing process would wash out the artifacts...

I don't even notice it as it is, and I'm tilting my LCD screen back and forth to change how light the pixels are displayed.

I know it won't be visible. But it's there. And I've seen it. And it cannot unsee it.

I wasn't all too serious about it, at least it's something to talk complain about. ;D

Haha. I had SFAM on my mp3 player, but I didn't understand the idea of a concept album and just threw it into my mix playlist, so I was getting songs out of order and disconnected, so obviously I didn't connect to it. Thankfully I've seen the error of my ways!

:lol In the "old days" when I would discover a new band, I used to preview all the songs from every album on iTunes, then buy one from each album that I thought I liked most based on the preview. The one I got from SFAM just so happened to be TDOE :D so I didn't get any funky out of place story, thankfully.

Haha, you got lucky there! I feel like that and TSCO would be some of the few you could listen to out of context and not be completely confused...

...though in all fairness I've listened to SFAM multiple times and I'm still completely confused. :lol

In what friggin' universe is a 68 minute long album "short"?

The rake looks even worse. And isn't this perspective of the majesty logo the same one the cover of BC&SL?

My only complaint would be the perspective on the rake. It looks a bit off. Otherwise I think this is nice and clean and quite nice! :)

ACOS?
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces
