Seeing Iron Maiden's Flight 666 in a theater was one of the coolest movie experiences ever, id go see a DT concert in theater but I doubt it'll happen in the USA.

They should release a preview of this to hype the release of DT12. I reckon that might be a good marketing move, get people invested on this kind-of forgotten DVD once again and pump them even more for Dream Theater.

aprilethereal

I agree that they should release something to make people interested in the DVD again, but I don't expect anything as a marketing stragedy for DT12, since both are released by totally different companies.

Maybe DT could do something like Zep did with Celebration Day and have the film be a special 2 day event or something. Limited showing or whatever.

Has there been any word of this shit for like months now  :-[
I can't stand this waiting  :-\

rumborak

I don't think anything will happen up until a few months after the new album is out. I'm thinking Christmas.

serrano

Well they are apparently showing it in theaters from 9/19.

Well the world wide part makes me somewhat hopeful for a NYC showing.

I thought 5th Nov was the release date?? :/

It is. That's for the DVD/Blu-ray/CD home release.

Azyiu

5th Nov?! Well, at least we have a date to shoot for.  :hat

They should have called the DVD A Dramatic Return of Events.
My latest concept album "IV: Timber" IS OUT NOW!

Looks like there will be a NYC showing and a few more in NJ.

Forgot to mention, these two shows were One Year ago yesterday (and the day prior)  :-\

Amazon.co.uk are listing LALP now - it looks like we Europeans are only getting Blu-Ray, DVD and Deluxe versions. I might pop for that Deluxe set, because I NEED those CDs, but the packaging looks a bit huge (nice though)!

Fuck, I really want the CDs, but the deluxe set is too expensive for me :censored

Reminds me of the documentary/DT12 thing :\

Meatrose

I'm definitely getting the deluxe set, I love the awesome packaging. It makes me think of the deluxe versions I have of Steven Wilson's last two records. The question is do I pre-order it from Amazon now or hold out until it's available someplace else?

It's hard to tell from the picture, but given that a CD is 5", that book looks about  9-10" square. That's nearer a pizza box than the SW discs.

Tickets in hand for Sept. 23rd, in Camp Hill, PA. Anyone else going to that one? I'm dragging two non-DT initiated friends along.

?

I don't have any need for the CD's, so I'll just buy the basic DVD edition.

aprilethereal

I'm actually more exited about the CDs than the DVD/Bluray

To be completely honest I'm probably never going to use the CD's. I'm buying the deluxe set because of the cool packaging and some kind of subconscious need to feel like a special snowflake.

I know, I'm very weak.

Blu Ray runs 300 mins. Main show IIRC is about 180, I'd wager the bonus songs to be about half hour so that leaves 90 mins of bonus features. Not as jam packed as I was hoping.
