Pro Tools 8 Keyboard shortcut help
« on: December 10, 2012, 03:31:40 AM »
I know people are going to say search google
while I know there are plenty of PDF files with this information, it's not that simple for me to read the information so does anyone know

how to move between tracks in pro tools through just a keyboard shortcut.

let's say I am on verse 1 and i press shift+r to unrecord enable the track, now I want to move down one track to guitar chorus 1 below
how would I be able to do that?

any help is greatly appreciated

thanks

Windows or Mac?

And what version (build) of ProTools?  Is it LE?

It  would have to be either MP or LE if it's PT8, unless it's HD which I doubt.

I have the PT shortcuts on the very laptop I'm typing on right now, but I can't think of a shortcut for what you're trying to do.  Do you not have a mouse?  It's pretty easy to move and not shift it out of its place, especially if you have the grid mode enabled.

All of the keyboard shortcuts are available on Avid's website right here:

You want a shortcut to record enable different tracks?

Dunno if they have one for that. You might just have to click the record button, which is pretty, you know.....easy.

Well since everyone who has responded seems to have misunderstood what it is you're asking, it might help if you rephrase it or something.

Are you just wanting to select different tracks without clicking on them?

Hm. I dunno, the tab button doesn't do it? I don't use shortcuts generally except for simple things like undo and duplicate.

You might just have to click on the next track. And to be honest, it's probably no more difficult/time consuming or anything than a short cut.
