Accountability partners/teams

I've read a number of times that it's important to have accountability in Christian relationships. This includes dating relationships and marriage so you don't ever do either in isolation. How do they work? Presumably you want to establish a discussion context rather than a parent-child, approval-seeking relationship.

They don't have a predetermined way they should work, it's different for every pair of people whether you're in a relationship or not.

If God expected human relationships to be the cerebral exercises you make them out to be, Andy, humankind would long be extinct.

AIUI it's the equivalent of best mates/buddies who you share things with and garner opinions, feedback etc.

That's pretty much all it is. It's a good friend that you're comfortable in being open with. However, you need to hold yourself accountable.

Accountability doesn't mean shit. My wife and I never hold each other (or ourselves) accountable for anything. Happily married for 19 years.

BTW, Andy... How many girlfriends have you had?
