What a vibe that intro and video then the guitar riff create.. impressive.

Anyone else almost get chills when JP came in with the backup vocals? Such a nice moment having those two together like that.

Just got back!  Thanks Jamesman for relaying the setlist info!

WOW.  Just wow.  After the first two songs, James had to yell at us to shut up because the crowd was just INSANE with applause.  I've never seen the guys so happy and relaxed on stage in the 5 times I've seen them.

Highlights:

BITS opening.  I was 99% sure they would open with it and I was right.  Fantastic way to open the set.

The acoustic set.  Such a great moment shared between James and John.  Jordan played backup keys (mainly the heavy bass patch).

Mangini.  Phenomenal job handling all those songs without skipping a beat.  He was really enjoying himself up there.

The Great Debate.  I've been waiting to hear this song and they delivered.

Last but not least, James LaBrie ROCKED.  I'm very very critical when it comes to his vocal performances.  Most of the videos and performances that other people praise and say "He's back!!" leave me wanting.  However, he really brought his A-game and was hitting every note without struggling.  Particular in The Great Debate near the end, and he was still holding on to those high notes without his typical extreme vibrato.  Fantastic.

Overall, the best DT show I've been to (My first show was in 04 for the ToT tour).   My only qualm was Forsaken, but otherwise a fantastic setlist and even better performance by everyone in the band.    Rawwwwwwwk!!!!

I just watched the intro and the beginning of BITS clip... All I have to say is HOLY SHIT ! I mean, apart from the vibe it creates, those lights and cubic screens and how the whole stage looks - incredible ! I really can't wait till January now.

And BTS - James  :hefdaddy

Setlist is great and all, but that is a WEIRD place to put an acoustic pair of songs. They'd be great at the start of an encore or something, but surely they just suck the momentum out of the set where they are right now? I wasn't there though, so I don't know for sure.

I don't know, I've seen a lot of acts of all kinds (e.g. Foo Fighters, Katy Perry, Paramore) do a similar thing recently. It must be 'in' right now.

An acoustic breakdown in the middle of the set, featuring a song that I wanted to hear for a long time (The Silent Man) and my favorite ballad (Beneath the Surface)?!

No they didn't. They freakin' didn't.

Also, I knew James would make a mistake and sing "And began to forget why you longed to be so close"...it's almost like JP switched "longed" with "tried" in the second chorus to confuse him in live performances XD

And last note: FINALLY James records 2 vocal lines in studio, and JP sings one of them live (rather than having JP to sing the other line in studio in the first place). I'm so glad about that.

Maybe it's just a personal thing. It's not something i'd personally do if I was picking a setlist. That's probably it. It's great that both of those songs are in the set but I don't agree with where they are. But if people say it works, then it works.

Fantastic that JP brought an actual acoustic guitar on stage for the first time in umpteen years and did 2 songs with it.  If I'm not mistaken, the original acoustic version of TSM hasn't been played since the Awake tour.

The setlist is good, except for a strange encore (great song, nonetheless) and a couple of my lesser favorites. It's still gonna be rockin' seeing this in February.  :metal

And yeah... Bridges in the sky and Beneath the surface.  :hefdaddy

Those scream are actually higher than F#, if I''m not mistaken.  But I doubt he would have done the screams live.

I could be wrong.  Somebody help us out!

I'm not in love with the set list.

Really wish they would have kept Caught in a Web...surprised they had nothing from FII.

BUT...they kept GREAT DEBATE!  Pleasepleaseplease keep that in the set until Chicago and I will forgive you for my other minor gripes.  I kinda dig that a HUGE chunk is new stuff.

The thing is, with this lineup...everything seems new.  I wouldn't mind hearing stuff I've already heard before cause I want to see them with the reinvigorated attitude.  I want to hear MM DOMINATE.  Oh well, plenty more tours to see that.

I am fine with the setlist, well except for Forsaken, The Great Debate and UAGM.  But, I am expecting them to switch some songs around during the tour.  I thought the intro at the beginning of the concert was too long. Inception intro followed by BITS intro is about 4 minutes.  Just do one or the other would work better.  The Silent Man is a nice surprise. Hope they keep that in the set. I was also hoping that Mangini would totally redo his solo. I would really like to see him do an aggressive, in your face, I'm here to kick your ass solo.

hopefully DT monitors threads like these for feedback. the only thing missing was BAI. add that (removing forsaken, of course), and it'll be a perfect set.  ;)
