Not really sure if it counts, but Dirty Dancing (the original movie of course). My mother loves it so I pretty much grew up with it. I think it's amazing.

Definately a chick flick.  I live 45 minutes from the place it was filmed.  I think its required you go there at least once if you live around here.

I like that you live closer to where Slapshot was filmed.  More movie cred for you. :lol

There's nothing guilty about liking 500 Days of Summer. It's a great movie.

I'd like to add the movie Soapdish.  I have no answer to why I liked it.

Mean Girls.

I fail to see how that's a guilty pleasure, it's a great film full stop.
Well yeah but it was the first chick flick to come to my mind. And I know I like lots of chick flicks but I can't remember now.
I imagined the story to go more like this.

I was sitting a traffic light blaring Space Dye Vest and next to me in another car was Kevin Moore. And I'll never be open again.

Actually I was born and raised where Slapshot was filmed (Johnstown, PA).  Dirty Dancing was filmed at Mountain Lake, VA https://www.mountainlakehotel.com/Section_Home.asp?SID=40 (Not to be confused with Smith Mountain Lake which is also nearby).

two newer ones.

No Strings Attached (duh)

which I am watching right now

and Love And Other Drugs...

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

I'm totally torn about No Strings Attached. On the one hand, I want to see it because it has Natalie, but..........it has Ashton, and I usually make it a rule to avoid anything he does.

Ashton doesn't ruin it as much as he usually does... But its Natalie... You gotta see it :D

No Strings Attached makes me love and hate life...

Titanic...was a weird one for me.

It really AFFECTED me.

I didn't want to watch it again.
The deaths of people...drowning is my biggest fear.

In no way am I saying it wasn't a good movie.
It was excellent.
I just can't watch it again.
Same with Shindler's List..though I think I was affected differently from that subject matter.

Titanic is....borderline a chick flick so I see where your co-workers are coming from.

Yeah, maybe borderline.  I'd also put Pearl Harbor in that category... damn shame they took such subject matter and made them like that :(

It is kind of like Armageddon in that it is sort of a disaster movie with a romantic angle thrown in, although the romantic angle is far more prevalent in Titanic, and Armageddon sucks.

Fever Pitch

As a Liverpool fan with a long memory I can't watch this. I still have nightmares about that night. My mate's ex wife was so evil she named their son (born after they split up) Michael Thomas. (shudders)

I'm saying Titanic as well.  James Cameron said he pitched it to the studios as a romance story that takes place on the Titanic.    ;D

Otherwise, it's been almost ten years since I dumped my last gf and she was the one who dragged me to see those chick flicks.  My wife isn't a chick flick person.  I think A League Of Their Own should count.  It's a movie about chicks and I want to flick  Rosie O' Donnell of the screen.   ;)

Otherwise, I dunno. I do like the old movies with Bogart, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, so maybe one of those. I'll go with Casablanca.

I have seen a massive number of chick flicks primarily because my mom seems to attract them to her cable channels like flies, and I actually find that if given a choice between watching a B grade action movie or a B grade chick flick, I'll watch a chick flick. A lot of so called chick flicks have surprisingly witty screenplays to them.

My chick flick guilty pleasure? Kate and Leopold. I watch the SHIT out of that whenever I come across it. And I don't know why, other than the central premise involves time travel.
The bones of beasts and the bones of kings become dust in the wake of the hymn.
Mighty kingdoms rise, but they all will fall, no more than a breath on the wind.

No reason to feel guilty about that one. I don't like it a whole lot, but I can appreciate that it's one of the "greats" of modern film.
