Awesome video trailer.  I'm very excited and proud to be a DT fan.  Very classy and it's great to the the guys tackle this in such a creative way.  Thanks, DT!
This. I just watched the video and it gave me goosebumps. I'm very impressed. Throughout the whole audition time, we were all wishing the opportunity to witness it. Well, DT is granting our wish.

How anyone could have a problem with this is beyond me. This looks like an incredible treat. Even if the winner was leaked, I think would be irrevelevant. Just to have them share the process with us is an incredible gesture on the part of the band.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

I wonder how long that has been on that site. Looks like it has been there for a long while :lol

EDIT: Holy crap, look at the Twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/OverTheEdgeProd

Actually, since January 28, 2011.

So this TV thing means that us outside the US won't be able to watch? :/

Actually, since October 18th, 2010:

We're in the studio with Dream Theater today! First shoot day our documentary on the band!
18 oct

Is there a way to keep twitters secret and then publish them or something like that? Because the most recent one says:

QuoteWe can finally share what we've been working on for the past six months with you all! https://tinyurl.com/3e8hk39

It doesn't make sense, if they had already talked about it since october, why can they "finally" share what they've been working on?

Argh! Of course they announce this when I'm out of town for a few days, away from any way to check the site.  :lol
Quite a nice surprise to come back to though. I'm quite excited!

well one of the owners of the company is a producer at MTV. HMMM?

This video made me smile. It is a bit cheesy but at the same time quite well constructed. Nice to see the auditioners excited and I hope those who won't get the job won't feel to disappointed and rather work with some DT guys on side projects if they wish.

ronrule

After watching it 100 times, I'm pumped.  Would've preferred they go the Sundance documentary route rather than MTV reality show, but you can't have everything.  WHEN WE WILL GET THE REST!?! :)

Edit: Nevermind. I got it to work

Right on.  I love this kind of stuff.  I'm hoping they release this stuff like they did with each song on the behind the scene stuff from SDOIT.

Sorry bosk, didn't read through all the pages.  Could someone then at least type a highly detailed synopsis of what happened in the video, pleeeeaaaasssseee.

Ben_Jamin

Basically its a trailor for a documentary apparently titled Dream Theater 2011: The Spirit Carries On, about their search for a new drummer, which is how they're gonna announce the new drummer.

Stereotypical, deep-voiced, melodramatic narrator (yes, I'm serious) is talking about how the members of DT rawk the universe.  "Then, the unexpected happened.  Their drummer, Mike Portnoy, decides to leave the band."  Band is stunned.  They somehow move on and start auditioning people.  We see each of the seven playing drums, talking, playing more drums.  Video ends with the 4 remaining members in the studio control room leaning over a phone, and JLB says, "we wanted to take the opportunity to say...welcome to the family."  Video fades out.

Oh, and JLB says "monumental moment," probably after being slapped for saying "especially special" in an earlier take.

It mostly shows Myung's takes on MP departure and the proccess of searching the new drummer, Myung interview some of the drummers and tells how he is enjoying jamming with them and that the process is about having great chemistry with the new drummer. At the end he welcome the new drummer to the family with a tackle but you can't see who the drummer is in the shot.

Actually you could construe what John Petrucci said via facebook, that you would know the date today, but I think he meant, sign-up for mailing list and you will get the info for the release date (at some time).

Oh dear.  Maybe it's the paint fumes I'm inhaling right now, but that was hilarious.

Then a live Chicken is sacrificed and people wearing Black cloaks bow down and pray. Then they tell you to wait longer to find something out. :tick2:

Really?  Can I get banned for this?  If so, I'll edit my post.

Uh, yes.  Since I have now said twice in this thread that YouTube links are off-limits, you think I might possibly get a little peeved at people doing it anyway?
