The phone call scene is definately from Cove (https://covecitysoundstudios.com/WP23/wp-content/gallery/studio/studio4.jpg)
Compare Petrucci's looks from the beginning of audition to the look that he has in the phone call scene (+plus the one that he has in the studio teaser scene)
10/18/2010: Drummer auditions begin. The auditions are held over a 3-day period. It is later revealed that 7 drummers auditioned. (Petrucci)
11/5/2010: Dream Theater notifies auditionees of the audition results. (Beartrucci)
Some where around 11/17/2010 ----> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPbiasKhh7s (Petrucci)
1/3/2011: Dream Theater enters the studio to begin work on DT's 11th album. (Beartrucci)

Petrucci, Beartrucci, Petrucci, Beartrucci... Either he changes his beard style very often or the scene is fake...
I reworked that a little bit so it is more clear and posted it on CJS's forum: https://www.jameslabrie.com/forum/index.php?topic=3157.msg18873#msg18873
Maybe I'll post it on JP's and Jordan's as well if James doesn't answer.
I would insist on JLP's hair lenght. It is noticebly longer in the phone scene than in the auditions photage. Yet, according to Peter, there are only 18 days between the audition and the announcement time (5.11), which is to say, about two weeks and a half. Would your hair grow about three inches in two weeks? Unlikely.
I for me think that the phone call scene is not original. Come on, look at the guy's expressions. They are announcing the biggest decision of their career, yet they seem to be extremely relaxed and cool about that. Or consider their displacement, very subtly ordered: the singer/frontman makes the call, the band leader sits on his side, while the other two members stand behind them. This order is very rational, and thus unlikely to be spontaneous.
But, you may say, they may have arranged the spatial displacement of the scene before making the call. Right. But once again, look at their expressions when they are listening to MM's joyful and intense reaction. They seem to be held down, THEIR reaction is definitely poor compared to what you may expect in such a situation, and actually closer to the reaction of someone remembering a moment that has already occurred some time before. I mean, when I first watched Mike's reaction I felt a strong emphaty with him, and got a bit emotional myself - as i think many here did - but now, watching again the video, or recalling the O-Face, i just smile the exact way the remaining members do on the video. This is not by any means a proof, nor it is intended to be, but just some commonsense-driven wannabe detective speculation
