Tool is the answer.
I just don't get Tool, for the life of me I don't get Tool.
I think if you want heavy and diverse you should check out something like Devin Townsend
The songs you posted are very interesting, I'll try to get the album asap
Listen to something besides rock/metal. It'll be a nice change of pace.
I do, I listen to punk rock often and even a few pop stuff that I don't mention here in fear of a wedgie heh
Yeah, Thrice is awesome. I kinda want to say Unexpect but it may be too weird for your taste.
Usually the vocals is the problem, I tried Unexpect, btw I regularly try all the new bands I see mentioned on the DTF music discussion forum.
Was in the same situation many years ago; this will get you through it:
1. Opeth
2. Pain of salvation
3. Redemption
4. Fates Warning
5. Dimmu Borgir (musically more interesting and better than Rammstein IMO)
6. Vanden Plas
7. Flower Kings
8. Devin Townsend
9. Framshift
10. Ayreon + Starone
11. Between the Buried and Me
This music will challenge you to think and evaluate your musical tastes!
Tried a lot to get into the bands I highlighted on your list, the vocals completely turn me off, if it's not clean I reject it instantly, I know I'm the problem.
Try R.E.M. for a change of pace. If you like music that is not metal that is. Very melodic and catchy stuff. Good energy. Michael Stipe's voice. Huge discography.
Big R.E.M fan! they're my relaxing music, along with The Cranberries, I guess something about my opening post was misunderstood, I listen to a lot of bands but I miss the loving something new so much to feel very passionate about the music, if that makes any sense.
Like the kinda passion we used to get back when we first heard Dream Theater's Metropolis and pull our hair in amazed disbelief at the beauty of the instrumental section, things like that.
What about Pain of Salvation. They filled my 4-5 year musical rut extremely well.
Dead end here, they're the only band which popularity puzzles me more than Tool's, I gave PoS so many tries I've probably listened to the albums as much as their fans did heh, dead end, I don't get the "wow".
