My friends and I were playing the nazi game (don't know the official name but we call it that because the nazis were playing it in Inglourious Basterds, where someone writes a name on a card and you put it on your forehead and have to guess who you are) and I made Tony a character from Star Wars. He figured out he was from a movie and asked about the genre and he was like "Is it science fiction" and our friend Matt said he wouldn't quite call it that, and Tony asked if it was "space fantasy" and Matt said yes, which gave Star wars away... still took him a while to figure out that he was Jar Jar though. I guess I don't blame him for exploring every other possible option first

Having only seen the first Star Wars once when I was a kid, and not liking it enough to ever bother watching it again or any of the sequels for that matter, I don't get most of the references here today, but I can appreciate the effort that went into it.

Those films really don't seem that old compared to other films from the same time...  the lack of CGI and the clever use of believable looking costumes, sets and models make the films seem far more real and material to me than the prequels, as well as many other modern films.

Oh God this is exactly how I feel about the originals.  Its a wonder what real sets can do to make a movie look real.  Dammit George Lucas...

Indeed, I mean look at LOTR...  the effort that went into creating those real sets and the costumes etc really pays off.  If Peter Jackson had just used blue screen and a CGI Helm's Deep, Minas Tirith etc like GL did with the prequels those films wouldn't be half as magical as they are.

Jackson at least used models for large scale shots. Lucas just went the 100% lazy way.

Well, I'd suggest watching Star Wars, cos even if you don't love them, they're not bad films overall, and then you can tick them off your list.

However, I wouldn't recommend Indiana Jones to my worst enemy.
