Even better?

No sequel.

You make too much sense too often.

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Sure it is. Good or bad, I don't think there's more story to tell, and it works perfectly as a self contained unit. I don't think any of these suggestions for prequels/sequels sound good.

They've invented a whole new world (;)), so I'm sure there are countless stories to be told.

*Dream Theater spends two years meticulously working on something completely outside the box that they've never done before*

*DTF fans want them to rinse and repeat*

Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

DTF praises Dream Theater for stepping out of the box and doing something fresh and different.
Wants them to do the same thing again and stay inside the box.

This could be a meme.

For the record, I was never one of the people calling on them to do something different.  I just feel that they've hit upon something with so much potential that it would be a massive shame to leave it all behind.  I can't tell you how disappointed I'd be if they release a simple TOT or SC type album after this.

They shouldn't repeat themselves.  It seems very clear they've done everything else so Jazz Odyssey is the only option left.

Dunno, there's still that concept album about Jack the Ripper. Saucy Jack you're a naughty one...

For some reason, I think the next album should either be a merge of Prog Metal and Jazz Fusion or that it will be polished up improvisations with vocals on top afterwards. I don't think either will happen, but it would be pretty cool. Milking TA would just cheapen it unless the expansion actually enhanced the original and was sufficiently different. I think the next album will likely be musically a cross between DT12 and TA with the production taking the feedback into account. I also think they will use Ja Mie again as an artist.

Screw a sequel. I want a one disc prequel with a young Nefaryus passing judgement on rebel scum, set to theatrical epicness with more weird musical twists on jazz, tango, and whatnot.
