Opeth's Heritage is probably my favorite album when it comes to bass.  Particularly, Lines in My Hand and the last third of Haxprocess.

What other songs from Sixteen Stone or Razorblade Suitcase feature decent stuff from him? All I remember him for is playing mirrored guitar riffs during verses where the guitars sit out like in Everything Zen and Little Things before they come back in the chorus either playing the same riff from the verse or something pretty damn similar. I'm always interested in going back to find stuff I missed on older albums I still like.

I just like his groove and style, very simplistic, but solid.  Him and Robin were a pretty decent rhythm section, he had a strong bass sound, and he was always mixed really well in the music, and he was very audible. You are right in your description though on what he plays during verses and choruses.

I like his presence also in songs like Machinehead, Greedy Fly (love his fill towards the end), Swallowed, Insect Kin.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

and i cant believe no one has mentioned iron maiden steve thunder fingers harris!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! shame on you all!!!
The creation and destruction of harmonic and 'statistical' tensions is essential to the maintenance of compositional drama. Any composition (or improvisation) which remains consonant and 'regular' throughout is, for me, equivalent to watching a movie with only 'good guys' in it, or eating cottage cheese.

Oh yeah, Steve Harris!  Man I love that song where he plays galloping E's, followed by D's, then C's and B's.   :P

tbh, there are just a few Maiden songs that really make me hard, bass-wise.  He's got endurance though, I'll give him that.  They're difficult to play for that reason most of the time.

Also John Entwistle's nickname was Thunderfingers, not Steve.  Get your rock history straight.

Bill Bruford came to my college to do a series of informal chats about music. I went to a few of them.

He looks a bit different now :)

Don't forget Rotten Apple from Jar of Flies. Great bass riff in that one.

How about Crush from Dave Matthews Band?

Very good indeed. I just heard Whale and Wasp from that album when I had my library on shuffle earlier today. W&W is probably one of my top 5 or 7 ballads ever.

The Strokes - Is This It

The Strokes have some pretty sweet bass lines, and this is one of my favorites, and it is definitely the best part of the song.

Mogwai - Yes! I Am A Long Way From Home
Mogwai - Tracy

Seriously, listen to those two, or at least the first song.
