The beef jerky thread
« on: August 25, 2011, 08:22:09 PM »
Ok I see bacon getting so much praise here (for good reason), but yet people seem to be forgetting the glory that is beef jerkey.

Anyone else love this food?

I just made a big batch. It's out to dry right now.

I love beef jerky, way more than bacon.

I have no idea (my dad's the one who makes it) but you can probably find out how to online.

Beef jerkey is awesome, but I don't think its as good as bacon. I wouldn't argue with someone that likes it more though, because I would find it perfectly understandable. I may change my mind if I get to taste more beef jerkey, I feel that it hasn't been in my life enough for me to fully appreciate it.

I love beef jerky. But it's sorta one of those delicacies I usually just get when I make a stop on a long car trip.

I much prefer homemade beef jerky to gas stop. Gas stop jerky seems a little moist to me, I like it to be completely dry.

This.

I actually go to this one guy who has a roadside stand up by my parents house, and he makes a mindblowing venison jerky.

Beef jerky is much better than bacon, as far as I'm concerned.  It's probably my favorite snack of all.

I've never had particularly good homemade jerky, but as far as store-bought goes I swear by Pemmican. It's the one with the native American dude on it. I also enjoy saying "Oh Boy! Oberto!"

I eat beef jerky almost every day; no joke. I love that shit. Jack Link's or GTFO.

Actually, I like most brands I've tried. Bridgeford is pretty good. Also, surprisingly, the Wal-Mart store brand is delicious. And you get like 2x the beef jerky for the same price as a pack of Jack Link's.

Slim Jim can go screw himself. Anyone who thinks that stuff is real beef jerky has never had real beef jerky.

I'm going to try and build up a jerky buffer, so I don't run out until the next time I make some.

As for Slim Jim, it's good, but I have to want a slim jim.

Just a head's up, if you ever see a brand that uses a cartoon Native American head as its logo....don't try it. I don't remember the name, I just remember it was terrible.

Love it! I make my own or buy good brands like Pemican.
Always keep floss in the house when enjoying jerky. Trust me on that one.

Damn Reap, that looks good. :o

Tick is right about the floss. Beef Jerky is right up there with popcorn on the list of foods most likely to get stuck in your teeth.

Really? Kind of just looks like brown, dried-out seaweed to me.

Never understood the fascination with this stuff. It's okay.

I also say beef jerky is superior to bacon, especially when it's good and spicy.

EDIT: I now I'm craving some jerky  :P

There are two reasons for your post:

1) You're a Euro

2) You're too worried about living to see your 50th birthday
