Here comes the Endless Forms Most Beautiful survivor! The most recent Nightwish album, and the first with Floor Jansen on vocals.

This album falls in the middle of the pack for me. It's good, decent music, and there are few awesome songs I really love, but the rest of the material is just there. It's enjoyable, but not mindblowing, I think; though I also think it's a well constructed album, the flow is good, and the highlights are absolutely awesome. I guess one of the reasons I'm not over the moon about Endless Forms Most Beautiful is that I had enormous expectations — and this album hasn't lived up to them. I think we could've got more Marco vocal contributions and more adventurous songs, but in fact I'm pretty happy with what we've got. It's just isn't stellar, as its predecessor was.

I know you guys are fond of eliminating ballads early, and I'm kind of fond of eliminating heavy songs. Over-the-top heavy Nightwish is just not for me. Don't get me wrong, I love Marco's voice, and I really love some songs with him in Nightwish, like Rest Calm (wish we could get more tunes like that), or The Islander, or this album's epic, he kicks ass there, but tracks like Romanticide, Master Passion Greed, and the one I'm going to vote for? Just no.

The Eyes of Sharbat Gula just because its more of a lead up instrumental to the last track, it really does nothing on its own for me although I do enjoy the second half of the song.

The problem I have with this album is that it is incredibly mediocre except for the last 3-song run. I also really dislike the emphasis on pipes and whatnot. Floor seems really underwhelming compared to what she is capable of live.

I see your point on Yours Is An Empty Hope - I absolutely detest the chorus.  Otherwise, it's a decent song.

And naturally everyone trying to kill off the quietest song first.

Yours Is An Empty Hope is easily the weakest song here.

Opinions: Life would be so much easier if everyone's was the same as mine.

I kid, but c'mon... just cuz one person say "XYZ is the worst song", doesn't make it so.  It's a matter of opinion/tastes.

Yeah, sorry if it's not clear, but I've spent much of this survivor playing up my reactions to everything and making hyperbolic statements like that. Just see the last few rounds of the Dark Passion Play survivor where I was freaking out about 7 Days to the Wolves lasting that long. It's all a bit over the top exaggerated commentary, and it's for my own amusement, mostly.

Though I have to say that the statement "X is easily the weakest song here" is a lot less harsh of a statement than "Y blows." No disrespect, as I totally know what you're going for there, just pointing out that I'm far from the only one making exaggerated comments in this survivor.

Fair enough... I hadn't been following the survivor religiously all the way through.  A FWIW, I love 7 Days - perhaps because I love the book.

I guess sometimes I forget who knows they're voicing their opinion, even when statements come across as fact.  I'm guilty of making the latter, even though I know I'm intending the former.  Now I know you're one of those cool cats too!
