I only saw it mentioned in this thread, as it was a standalone comment.

Apparently when you buy some physical CDs, you have the option of downloading MP3s asap. I am assuming it is only tied to Amazon's Cloud Player though.

Thoughts?

It's pretty cool for folks like me who prefer a physical copy.

Amazon also retro-actively extended it to all purchases back to when they started selling CD's in 1998. Pretty cool overall, but too bad it didn't happen sooner. Mostly too little too late, the label's are late to the party, it could have helped stem the tide of declining album sales.

Speaking of which, I was just about to buy some CDs off of Amazon and noticed the s&h price just went up to $3.99 for everything. So angry!

Get Amazon Prime for free shipping on most everything, it is well worth it if you buy a lot from there. I purchase tons of stuff from them, maybe 6-10 purchases a month. You also get a lot of free TV and Movie content with it.

yeah, you download through the cloud player.  I use it at work to listen to some of the albums I've purchased through Amazon.  You can also upload 250 songs from your own library into the player.
