Ok I admit this section is polarizing, and I actually don't count it to the intro.
BTW I really like the widdley diddley, caught me first time off guard while listening. :omg:
Chronological order:
Fortune in Lies
Metropolis pt1
UAGM
Voices
Lifting Shadows off a Dream
Home
8V
ItpoE
TMOLS
TCOT
OTBOA
LNF
BITS
Not saying it's the best, but I love the intro to New Millennium. Such a groovy moment when it kicks into gear.
Yes I'm listening to it now.
As I Am has a cool intro, so does The Root Of All Evil.
Well The Count Of Tuscany for sure. As I Am is dark and badass, I like it. Bridges also should be here on that list ;) and Outcry :)
Take the Time (Up to 'I think its time for a change')
Learning to Live
6:00 (Best drum opening ever)
The Mirror (DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH)
Space Dye Vest
Misunderstood (Just love hearing the first chord)
Solitary Shell
Panic Attack
Octavarium (All 4 minutes of it)
A Nightmare To Remember (Especially as an opener live)
Lost Not Forgotten
Bridges in the Sky
Breaking All Illusions
Under a Glass Moon
Home
War Inside My Head
The Root of All Evil
Octavarium
A Nightmare to Remember
The Count of Tuscany
AND THE WORST!
New Millennium
Learning To Live
How the hell do I delete this message?
The Root of All Evil has a great intro and its a perfect album/concert opener. Love it. It gets me so pumped.
Best from each album
1.TOWHTSTS - Eerie as fuck
2.Metropolis - Epic as shit
3.Scarred - Bluesy as tits(?)
4.New Millenium - Groovy as hell
5.Overture 1928 - Thematic as
6.The Glass Prison - Metal as The Terminator
7.Honor Thy Father - Same as above
8.The Root of All Evil - Rockin' as balls
9.ITPOE Pt 1. - Crazy as ass
10.TCOT - Beautiful as Marisa Tomei's nekkidness
11.Lost Not Forgotten - Cinematic as dick
Going with ACOS.
Not a very original answer, I know. But I want to marry that intro.
ITPOE Pt 1 definitely.

Yes I'm listening to it now.
Love that.
Also, As I Am and These Walls are pretty awesome.
I love the intro to Octavarium. It's just such a haunting melodic/atmospheric moment. I hate that so many people (mostly non-DT fans) think it's boring.

I love it, even the extended Score version :coolio
I don't like the lap steel and continuum solo. I think it's too long. However, the acoustic guitar that comes in is absolutely gorgeous.
Let's see....
ACOS....then maybe....ACOS...and so on, and so on, ;D
Metropolis Part I
Agree with all of the above. I would give Stream of Conciousness an honorable mention
Best from each album:
WDADU: The Killing Hand
I&W: Take The Time
Awake: Scarred
FII: New Millennium/Lines In The Sand/Trial Of Tears
SFAM: Finally Free
SDOIT: Every song on the album has an amazing intro.
TOT: In The Name Of God
8VM: Octavarium
SC: In The Presence Of Enemies
BCSL: The Count Of Tuscany
ADTOE: Bridges In The Sky
Sorry, but in this thread there is only one correct answer:
Home.
Many great ones mentioned, but I have to give props to About to Crash, the soft piano followed by that first crashing chord is just plain awesome.
God, what a topic! This is so hard to do, so I just am starting with Images & Words:
1. Metropolis
2. Pull Me Under
3. Under a Glass Moon
4. Wait for Sleep
5. Another Day
6. Take the Time
7. Learning to Live
8. Surrounded
Funny how different my "intro" rankings are from my "song" rankings. I am going to do this for every album. :)
1. Metropolis
2. ACOS
3. 8VM
4. TCOT
5. TGP
6. TROAE
Rough order probably forgot some lol.
