Everybody has one. Mine's "You've Got Mail."
-
Love Actually
-
No Strings Attached.
...Don't judge me.
-
Not sure if its a chick flick, but 500 Days of Summer makes me feel all warm and tingly, followed by a bout of self loathing and giving up on ever finding love
-
500 Days of Summer is AWESOME.
-
Does Fried Green Tomatoes count?
-
Fever Pitch
-
If it counts, I'll say A League of their Own, otherwise, I'm going to have to think on it.
-
Jersey Girl.
I just love Kevin Smith.
-
Just Friends if that counts
-
um i dunno i don't really watch those types of movies
but uh, i know one i reallly hate. like it's the worst movie i've ever seen. Elizabethtown. i have never wanted to murder myself with such intensity before seeing that film.
-
Princess Bride. If that doesn't count, something with female nudity.
-
A Walk to Remember.
-
got to be What women want
-
Fever Pitch (because I'm a huge Red Sox fan) and 13 Going On 30.
-
Mean Girls.
-
Mean Girls.
I fail to see how that's a guilty pleasure, it's a great film full stop.
-
Behind The Green Door.
-
Say Anything...
Not sure I'd consider it a chick flick, though, because it's one of the few romance films that seem to have more (or at least equal) male fans than females. I guess it's not really a guilty pleasure either, because it's awesome.
-
Behind The Green Door.
Isn't that a porno? :lol
-
Behind The Green Door.
haha nice
Yeah the only one that I really go for as far as this kind of thing is 500 Days of Summer, if that counts for anything. Good movie.
-
I probably have several chick-flicks, but I can't think of a good example right now...
-
Behind The Green Door.
Isn't that a porno? :lol
Yes
But truthfully a movie that made women strong and men dopes written by a man is "She's The One", by Ed Burns.
-
Neither The Princess Bride nor A League of Their Own are chick flicks. I think "chick flick" usually refers to a movie that is some type of romantic comedy (although not always).
My pick would be When Harry Met Sally, although I wouldn't call it a guilty pleasure (nothing I listen to or watch is a guilty pleasure).
-
Next Stop Wonderland
-
Not really sure if it counts, but Dirty Dancing (the original movie of course). My mother loves it so I pretty much grew up with it. I think it's amazing.
-
Ghost is awesome, but idk if that counts.
-
Love Actually
-

Fine, Kev, I'll go with Ghost then.

Does Spice World count?
-
Sleepless in Seattle. Top 10 film ever for me, but it's SO GOOD.
-
Love Actually
Is that a chickflick?
I'm not sure, but it's the best example I could think of.
-
I actually like a lot of chick flicks, which ironically is a quality girls who NOT like in a guy. Turns out they prefer guys who like movies like The Fast Five.
-

Definately a chick flick. I live 45 minutes from the place it was filmed. I think its required you go there at least once if you live around here.

I like that you live closer to where Slapshot was filmed. More movie cred for you. :lol
-
There's nothing guilty about liking 500 Days of Summer. It's a great movie.
-
Guilty pleasure:
10 Things I Hate About You
Not Guilty Pleasures:
Sleepless in Seattle
The Wedding Singer
-
I'd like to add the movie Soapdish. I have no answer to why I liked it.
-
Mean Girls.
I fail to see how that's a guilty pleasure, it's a great film full stop.
Well yeah but it was the first chick flick to come to my mind. And I know I like lots of chick flicks but I can't remember now.
-

Actually I was born and raised where Slapshot was filmed (Johnstown, PA). Dirty Dancing was filmed at Mountain Lake, VA https://www.mountainlakehotel.com/Section_Home.asp?SID=40 (https://www.mountainlakehotel.com/Section_Home.asp?SID=40) (Not to be confused with Smith Mountain Lake which is also nearby).
-
two newer ones.
No Strings Attached (duh)
which I am watching right now
and Love And Other Drugs...

I'm totally torn about No Strings Attached. On the one hand, I want to see it because it has Natalie, but..........it has Ashton, and I usually make it a rule to avoid anything he does.
-
Ashton doesn't ruin it as much as he usually does... But its Natalie... You gotta see it :D
No Strings Attached makes me love and hate life...
-
Mean Girls.
Yeah this.
-
Mean girls is excellent.
-
Since Emannuelle probably doesnt count  , I'll say You've Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, or Princess Bride
-

Fixed
The only girly part of "The Princess Bride" is the name.
-
Commando
there's a touching moment of personal betrayal at the mid point that gets me teary every time.....Schwartzanegger on the cliff holding "Sully"
"sully.......do you remember when I said....I would kill you last?"
"Ya...Mmm Matrix...you did"
"...................I Lied"
beautiful
Also.
Allyssa Milano's deep soulful moments locked in a mansion on a remote island....oscar worthy
-
I've been teased mercilessly at work for the last 10 years because I let it slip that I Loved Titanic... I don't think it's a chick flick...but my co-workers do. What do you guys think???? :corn
-
Does Spice World count?
I saw that too, in the theater back in the day. Holy shit was that movie bad.
Since Emannuelle probably doesnt count
Good god, you're bringing the past back!!
rumborak
-
Titanic...was a weird one for me.
It really AFFECTED me.
I didn't want to watch it again.
The deaths of people...drowning is my biggest fear.
In no way am I saying it wasn't a good movie.
It was excellent.
I just can't watch it again.
Same with Shindler's List..though I think I was affected differently from that subject matter.
Titanic is....borderline a chick flick so I see where your co-workers are coming from.

Yeah, maybe borderline. I'd also put Pearl Harbor in that category... damn shame they took such subject matter and made them like that :(
-
Titanic for me.

It is kind of like Armageddon in that it is sort of a disaster movie with a romantic angle thrown in, although the romantic angle is far more prevalent in Titanic, and Armageddon sucks.
-
Since Emannuelle probably doesnt count  ,
Ah, Skinimax late night. A 15 year old's masochism from too much friction.
-
Mean Girls.
-
REAL MEN don't watch or at least admit to watching "Chick Flicks"
-
my chick flick was worthy of admitance....though I stretched the definition of chick flick a tad.
-
Fever Pitch
As a Liverpool fan with a long memory I can't watch this. I still have nightmares about that night. My mate's ex wife was so evil she named their son (born after they split up) Michael Thomas. (shudders)
-
REAL MEN don't watch or at least admit to watching "Chick Flicks"
i guess there are more women on this forum than we all thought then
:roddy:
i love that emote
-
Update:
Just to point out how utterly enjoyable It Could Happen to You is (despite Rosie's Perez's all-time annoying voice!).
-
Legally Blonde.
-

I'm saying Titanic as well. James Cameron said he pitched it to the studios as a romance story that takes place on the Titanic. ;D
Otherwise, it's been almost ten years since I dumped my last gf and she was the one who dragged me to see those chick flicks. My wife isn't a chick flick person. I think A League Of Their Own should count. It's a movie about chicks and I want to flick Rosie O' Donnell of the screen. ;)
Otherwise, I dunno. I do like the old movies with Bogart, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, so maybe one of those. I'll go with Casablanca.
-
Beaches
-
Stardust, it's a great good movie.
-
Gone With The Wind
Titanic
Epic chick flicks
-
Dirty Dancing. :\
-
I have seen a massive number of chick flicks primarily because my mom seems to attract them to her cable channels like flies, and I actually find that if given a choice between watching a B grade action movie or a B grade chick flick, I'll watch a chick flick. A lot of so called chick flicks have surprisingly witty screenplays to them.
My chick flick guilty pleasure? Kate and Leopold. I watch the SHIT out of that whenever I come across it. And I don't know why, other than the central premise involves time travel.
-
Dirty Dancing. :\
No reason to feel guilty about that one. I don't like it a whole lot, but I can appreciate that it's one of the "greats" of modern film.
-
One Fine Day :hefdaddy
-
Fever Pitch and Hitch are a couple I can think of at the moment.
-
Dirty Dancing. :\
That is one of the movies my ex used to make me watch over and over so I have a special place for it in the black area of my heart. :censored
-
Nobody puts Baby in a corner.
-
You're right. They should put her in the wood-chipper.
-
Dirty Dancing. :\

I think I should be ashamed to admit I've probably seen that movie over 100x, no exaggeration, by choice.....but I don't feel ashamed. When it came out I was in 4th or 5th grade and 'we' must have seen that movie at least 15-20 times in the theater and all the subsequent viewings the past 20 plus years, it has to be over a hundred. Jennifer Grey had me spellbound for some reason and the scene at the end when her sister was rehearsing for the play and her knockers were on display were like magic to my youthful mind.
Nobody puts Baby in a corner.
This is a given. I'll take it a step further and say nobody should put a baby in the corner :lol

I almost forgot all of the times my parents used to watch it. I guess the music was interesting to them...
-
Mean Girls. What a great film.
-
Mean Girls. What a great film.
Pre-breakdown Linsday Lohan and Amanda Seyfried in the same movie. It's not a chick flick, it's more of a late night inspiration for mass manual stimulation.

Not to mention, Lacey Chabert, and Rachel McAdams! That is quite a foursome!

Finding Neverland. I balled my eyes out.

Hmmm... I need to be alone for a little while.

:lol

50 first dates or the wedding singer. I must have a soft spot for Adam Sandler lol
-

I forgot about The Wedding Singer. Drew Barrymore is all sorts of cute in that. I wonder if she'd do some drugs with me... hmmm
-
P.S. I Love You
Definitely Maybe
-
Does Juno count?
If so I absolutely adore that movie.
-
I don't know if these count, and I don't even feel guilty about liking them but:
Pitch Perfect
Bridesmaids
/thread

Princess Bride. At least it seems like a chick flick.

Wtf, Princess Bride isn't a chick flick.
My guilty pleasure: Next Stop Wonderland
-

That girl had probably done her lifetime's worth of hard drugs by the time she was 15 and lost interest. She is a pretty well known stoner, though (at least when she's not knocked up).
-
Pitch Perfect
I felt like it was trying too hard to be Mean Girls.
-

Exactly my point. ;) Relapse is a wonderful thing.
-
I can't honestly think of a single chick flick I like. Most chick flicks I've seen, I associate with a girl. So I enjoyed them because of the girl associated with them. But the movies were pretty terrible in of themselves.
-
Pitch Perfect
I felt like it was trying too hard to be Mean Girls.
I've never seen Mean Girls. Does it have acapella singing?
-
Thought of another one that's probably 51% chic flick.....49% cool movie.
Legends of the Fall
One of the greatest 'heavy petty' and making out sessions I had as a young lad was after a GF and I watched that movie. She was all worked up after watching Brad Pitt....maybe I was too :\......but anyway, it was a fun remainder of the evening.

I know you all don't want admit... Sex and The City is good.
Nah but my pick would be Selena.
-
Why do people keep thinking Princess Bride is a chick flick? Have they somehow not seen it or something? :rollin
-
Princess Bride. At least it seems like a chick flick.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
btw I know everyone's already ragged on you for this, I just really wanted to use that quote. :P
-
Mama Mia
Awesome movie.
And the only movie I've ever seen Meryl Streep be kinda hawt in. It's probably the character....confidence + overalls = really sexy.... that whole, "so comfortable with who I am, I can wear anything and get away with it"... "earth mother" kinda thing.
-
Pitch Perfect
I felt like it was trying too hard to be Mean Girls.

Nope. I was referring to the style of humor.

Does We Bought a Zoo count as a chick flick??
-
Wtf, Princess Bride isn't a chick flick.
As you wish.
-
A Serbian Film
-
I don't have any because guilty pleasure implies shame and/or dignity, and I have neither.
-
Mama Mia
Awesome movie.
