I'd never been to the O2 before, and this was definitely one of the strangest things.
Not only giving priority access to merch, which just felt weird.
But the fact that you have the merch booth in a little tiny tucked away stall, seperate from everything else, with queues outside in the wind and rain. I really would have expected a huge venue like that to have a better system in place. Maybe it's the norm for venues that size and I'm just not used to it, but I can't say I enjoyed it

Ofcourse they have click tracks. Those videos are perfectly lined up and in sync. That's not do-able without a clicktrack.

Mladen

Didn't they have videos that were perfectly in sync during the late 00s without using click tracks? My guess is that Mike pays attention to the tempo and watches the rearview mirror.

gzarruk

Mike P is pretty adamant against using click tracks live, so I highly doubt they're using it.

I still believe that they play without a click track. The "perfectly in sync videos" are actually just videos that start at the beginning of the song and stop at the end of the song. Both could be realized without a click track (at least without a click track that continues throughout the song).

I also compared the tempos of a few songs (BW, UAGM, TITL, NT) as they were played in London with the studio recordings. All 4 songs are definitely not played at the exact same tempo as the studio versions.

Edit: Just check out the animated video of Barstool Warrior (can be found on InsideOutMusic's Youtube channel). When James sings "all you dream" (minute 5:58), a ship appears. Live, this ship appears a few seconds later at the end of "cutting the anchor away". So they played the song a bit faster live.

they played with a click with Mango though, right?

Quote from: The Curious Orange on October 22, 2024, 03:22:38 AMThe sound - big, arena filling, crisp and clear, I could hear all of the instruments perfectly.  Was there a technical problem with Jordan's keys at the start of The Mirror? They played the fist big riff of the song without the keyboard part. If this was intentional, it added a new twist to the song, if it was accidental, well, they should continue to play it that way!

Yea, the sound team really killed it. It was loud as hell where I was, but also super clear and I was able to distinguish everything that was happening, was very happy given the venue size. Also the band sounded massive as hell which is always preferred!

I'm pretty sure they did but I don't know when exactly they started doing it. MM also posted a lot of live videos on his Youtube channel that include the click track he hears through his in ear monitoring.
Didn't they also state somewhere that the whole light show was synchronized with the click track from start to finish? Let's also not forget that they used pre-recorded backing vocals in a few songs, which make a click track a must.

Very smart move.

The DT12 tour.

Mladen

They used backing tracks on Live at Luna Park, so I assume they played with a click throughout the ADTOE tour as well. I think the only tour they played without the click was the summer tour of 2011 prior to the release od ADTOE.

You did a tremendous job with it, sir! I've only seen the videos of if on YouTube, and I'm already thrilled about witnessing that overture in person next week in Budapest.

Do you mind telling us who was in charge of selecting which song sections and themes were to be picked out? Also, if we haven't recognized some of the themes, can we ask you for help?  :lol
