Quote from: Ben_Jamin on September 16, 2024, 11:40:03 AMYou didn't answer my question...What about an abridged version of Octavarium?

This is sacrilege! One of the most favorite songs for many DT lovers. Finally making its grand return and get rid of..what.. the end?? That's like quitting (ahem) sex right before the good part! :blush  The middle?? which part?? It's all unique and fabulous.

This would be a total buzzkill :(

Quote from: Stadler on September 11, 2024, 08:22:37 AMI long for the days of standing at the Ticketmaster window after standing in line for six hours (or more) and getting a hard paper ticket from the seat you pointed to on the little map on the shelf under the half window of the ticket booth.

Anyone with me?  This "dynamic static systematic override refresh on demand" seating availability bull shit is for the fucking birds.  I hate the feeling of buying a ticket and thinking "there might be better RIGHT NOW!" I hate it.

I always feel like I need a shower after dealing with it now so I'm either going to wait it out or sit it out. Have fun!

Quote from: El Barto on September 11, 2024, 08:56:09 AMContinuing along with the "fuck capitalism" theme, presales are a scam, too. They're simply a way to further obfuscate every step in the process. The don't offer the best seats. They don't exist for fans. They simply exist so that people will feel a sense of urgency. Come Friday you'll see many of the same seats magically appear, they'll just be shifted over a couple of seats or a couple of rows. And since there is no more face value, it's entirely possible they'll cost more. Or less.

It's really a crappy time for those of us that have always gotten off on live music.

Don't forget the VIP entrances at the MET where you can get in 30 minutes earlier instead of hanging outside for $25. Go Jive Nation!

Quote from: Stadler on September 12, 2024, 01:45:18 PMYou know, it's just sinking in that the same presale had multiple codes that accessed different seats...  I don't know, but that really doesn't sit well with me.  I'm not really on the "Ticketbastard" bandwagon - yes there are things I don't like, but most of the complaints to me are "meh, then don't buy the ticket"! - but that one seems to be rather arbitrary even for them. It doesn't seem to me that that is greed, since some people don't seem to be getting the premium seats; if I'm ready to pay money for a ticket, shouldn't I have the full suite of seats available?

That's so 25 years ago. And no I haven't bought a ticket...yet. It's Only A Matter Of Time before you board the Ticketbastard bandwagon. Though it's probably still a golf cart.

Quote from: El Barto on September 13, 2024, 07:52:45 AMI'm kind of torn. On the one hand there are a couple of seats in the $126 tier that I wouldn't mind having. At the same time this didn't sell well at all and scalpers seem to have bought in somewhat hard. I could see this being one I get into under "face," and that always appeals to me.

I am SO in for that!

Quote from: pg1067 on September 13, 2024, 08:42:38 AMMy 2019 car uses a key (although I've rented a ton of push button cars).

My prior 2005 car had both a CD player and a cassette deck!

2006 Baby! The CD player and sound system was why I bought it! (I'll admit to not using the cassette deck though I could if I wanted.

Quote from: cramx3 on September 13, 2024, 02:37:08 PMI just wonder how different the sets will potentially be, pending on the album release date.

I'd guess very. This leg Anniversary Tour. Next leg new album tour.

Of those, the ones I would like to see resurface eventually are:

--WDADU
Status Seeker
The Killing Hand
Light Fuse & Get Away
Only a Matter of Time
--FII
Take Away My Pain
--SDOIT
The Glass Prison
Misunderstood
--ToT
Stream of Consciousness
In the Name of God
--8VM
Octavarium

I wouldn't mind A Rite of Passage either.  Not among my favorites, but would probably be a fun live song.

According to Setlist.fm, it's been played 3 times, all in 1998.

In particular I would be curious to see what JR might do during the Bebot section of the solo. I kind doubt the Bebot app is still around, and given the number of toys apps JR has available to him now, I'd imagine he could come up with something far more interesting/compelling than that Bebot bit.
Quote from: BlobVanDam on November 13, 2015, 07:37:14 PMAs a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

Interesting thought.  But even if that app no longer exists, he could largely replicate that with any number of other toys in his arsenal, so I think he would likely keep it somewhat similar.

So that's what you guys call it, I've always called it R2-D2's solo!

Of the list of songs they haven't played live since 2010, I would like these to be played live:
--FII
New Millennium
Lines in the Sand
--SDOIT
Blind Faith
Goodnight Kiss
--ToT

Bebot app still exists, and I highly recommend it. Easily the best $2 I ever spent on the app store.

TAC

I've never used the Bebot app.

I don't think we'll see AROP anyway, as TSF during the 12SS will take care of BC&SL.

Although I could see AROP on the new album tour, sure.

Quote from: TAC on September 18, 2024, 05:14:00 PMI like Raw Dog a lot, actually. YNM....no!

For me it's about songs I haven't seen them perform. Not many of the MP era have alluded me, but these are 2.

But I mean, you like what you like.  That's what makes all of this fun.

Wife got me tickets to the Cleveland show this morning :metal

She said it was slim pickings...only a couple dozen seats left...which is nice to see.
