Quote from: brakkum on March 22, 2025, 08:10:54 PMTBOT was such a surprise but my god was it good. So happy I made it and got to meet some of y'all!

I ran into the violin player walking back to my hotel and he seemed very surprised that anyone recognized him  :lol

His brother is a well known actor, and he himself is a well respected musician who's been on stage with among others Rush!  I got to see him on the R40 tour when I made the trek to the MSG show.

zappafrank2112

One thing I don't think I've seen mentioned, and this is just a personal note b/c I know it's part of the DT lore and I'm stoked I got to witness it live, but the Northfield show got an "eat my ass and balls" during As I Am.  :D

Yes, he was part of the "Clockwork Angels Orchestra" if I remember correctly.

Quote from: zappafrank2112 on March 23, 2025, 09:28:58 AMA Rite of Passage/Constant Motion/As I Am vs. Panic Attack/Under a Glass Moon/The Dark Eternal Night.  Some stops also got Home as the start as the encore (either set, I think).
The way it appeared to me at the shows I attended, you either got Panic or Rite, and then you got either Dark or CM&AIA. Home was always a game-time decision. No idea that Glass Moon was rotated--it was in all 3 shows I caught.

As for last night it was obviously the Panic/Dark set, but with TitL cut, as well as Home and Spirit. So we lost 3 songs, but gained one that nobody had ever seen before.

Good news for me is that I saw every song on the US tour, culminating with the one-off BoT. .

Quote from: dualpalmpilots on March 22, 2025, 08:28:09 PMTITL was cut, presumably to make room for TBOT. Also, no Home or TSCO

TITL and Home were cut for TBOT.  TSCO was on the set list (I was able to snap a photo before the show) but presumably was a last minute cut because they didn't want to go over time.

They learnt their lesson from their previous stint at RCMH  :lol

I think they're talking about them going over time while filming Score.

Ooh, if he was in the traveling group, then I saw him there, too, on the CA tour when it came through Pittsburgh.

Had an absolutely amazing time yesterday.  Hanging with all the DTF folks was so much fun. It was great to see some familiar and new faces.

The show was really good. The venue is so nice, been awhile since I've been to RCMH.  Ushers were super nice and didn't see a single one bother anyone for using their phone or anything like last time for TA show.  Sound was pretty good.  I was literally in the last row of the entire venue.  I stood the entire time, along wiht a handful of other random dudes along the last row, but the people directly next to me sat.  They said it was fine for me to stand too, probably gave them more arm room.

My view:

My only negative of the show is that of the rotations in the first set, we got the same songs from Philly. Nothing against those songs, just personally, I would have enjoyed getting a couple different ones.  No big deal though, as we all know, we got a treat later anyway so even just writing this feels odd.

The laser show was quite cool from the back, definitely a different vibe than being on the floor for Philly.  Crowd seemed fairly tame from the back, but definitely seemed like everyone was into it and enjoying it.

I never attempted to get merch, would have needed be there early to make that work, but the event shirt looked really cool.

Obviously the highlight was that surprise encore.  When they dropped This is the Life in the second set, I was fairly sure we were going to get a change for the encore. It honestly took me a moment to "get it".  The clock to start had me thinking "bend the clock" but a short bit later I had the realization we were going to get The Best of Times.  The videos in the back were great for this song.  In many ways, I hope this is it. The live violin was a real treat too, totally unexpected.  It's far from my favorite song, but we all know the meaning and this performance was obviously special.

I didn't bring my typical "concert camera" because the venue has been strict in the past, I might have been able to, who knows, but I did get a bunch of videos with my phone.

My full video: Dream Theater LIVE @ SOLD OUT Radio City Music Hall New York City NY 3/22/2025

And after the show a bunch of us continued to hang until I had to catch my last train at 1am. Got some dollar pizza on that walk back.  I could hardly sleep when I got home at like 2:30. Even today, I've been up and energetic, I'm just still reeling from yesterday.  It was everything and more than I could have expected and hoped for when this show was announced.

nobloodyname

Look forward to checking out those videos.

I had trouble sleeping last night, too, coming down from the buzz of the show and meeting new people. Got about four hours. Ugh!

Skeever

About 5 1/2 hours here, for the same reasons!

I managed to sneak in 7 hours of sleep, but woke up with no voice. Couldn't make a sound. Between the two bars and the venue I spent a whole lot of time having to talk pretty loud. Somehow it was the middle of the night when it caught up to me.

Still, great time and I'm thrilled I was able to do it.

brakkum

Yea I'm a bit hoarse today, and lump me in with the "couldn't sleep" crowd. Made waking up at 7 for the heinous train ride to the airport a bit gnarly.

Short story abt RCMH on why DT's fans are mostly the best lol

I got to RCMH early at 6pm. I could not get merch at CT because the lines were insane by the time my wife and I arrived.

Soo i get there, surprisingly no one is really there yet. I wait in line, literally like 6 people ahead of me. Within mins the line starts rapidly building. Rena Petrucci apparently know the people in front of me because she came up to talk to them about their tickets held in willcall lol. Kinda cool to see her.

Doors open, I'm one of the first let's say 20 people on line. I just want a shirt. Now, because I'm kinda old I got used to bringing cash to things like concerts. So I pulled out most my checking and moved the rest to savings. So keep in mind I only has maybe $30 in my checking account. 200 cash on me. I go to purchase my shirt for $45. I'm told "I'm sorry we don't accept cash, only card. You can use the machine downstairs to turn your cash into a card and come back." Now by then the line already quadrupled. I'd be waiting at least 30 mins... Then the awesome dude next to me said "na don't do that, miss you can charge it to my order, and I'll take his cash." Never met him in my life. Told him how much I appreciated it and responded "no problem this is what the DT fans do for each other!" We shook hands and introduced each other. I thanked him again.

This fan base really blows me away sometimes. Only DT fans would do shit like that! Yeah we can be the worst lol, but we're really the best!

My view:

You weren't kidding about your seat!  Where I was, we had a few incidents where the ushers were getting on people (one guy in particular) about shooting video.  In fact, at one point, it looked like the usher directly in front of the stage was getting crap from another usher about not hassling people.

As for sleep, I did ok.  I first woke up just a bit after 6:00.  I got up and peed and lied back down.  Next thing I knew it was 10:30.   :lol

Are the balconies as far away from the stage as they appear?

I think there's a bit of a fisheye effect that makes them look a little further than they actually are, but I think Marc's pics show that they're pretty far back.

No as far as they appear in PG's picture, but also not that close either lol. I was pretty close to the stage and this is what they looked like from my seat

Same here. I think I finally fell out around 6:30 this morning! I will say though that for me, unfortunately, I'm going to have to slow down a bit. I decided to get a cheap (but really good) ticket for Disturbed Friday night at MSG. I had a ticket for Philly on 4/2, but sold it since I have something going on that day. Anyway, between the Disturbed show Friday night, then back to MSG for the Rangers game Sat afternoon, I was already EXHAUSTED (when people say 65 is the new 55, they're full of shit :rollin ). Then went right to a close bar to finish watching the St. John's game  >:( which is why I never made it to The Elgin for the pre-show :tdwn. After the game ended, I made the trek up to RCMH from 35th street and when I arrive about 6:40, the line was LONG! Honestly, by the time I got on line until the moment I got in my seat (1st mezz row A...PERFECT) I really thought I was going to pass out...and NOT the good kind! ;)  :D After sitting and catching my breath for a bit, went and got some water and felt better for the show (which was AMAZING...I too was hoping for CM, AROP & AIA so it would be different from Philly, but what we got in TBOT certainly MADE MY DAY/NIGHT worthwhile. Literally had tears in my eyes the whole song). The long walk back to Penn station really sucked and I barely made the train back to metro park. I realize at 65 I bit off more than I can chew, but I made it out alive, and DREAM THEATER was SO WORTH IT! I know I'm not the only one, BUT I AM SO HAPPY MP IS BACK HOME!

Last night was my 875th concert and 49th time seeing DT. Even at 65 I was still thinking I may be able to get to 1,000 shows, but after the last couple of days, I'll have to start REALLY picking and choosing. Maybe 900 should be my goal!  ??? Will NEVER miss DT though (unless I'm 6 feet under  )

Jonathan Dinklage; his brother is Peter Dinklage from (among other things) A Game Of Thrones.

I can't believe the next leg of the tour starts in just 2 months. These guys are total workhorses. I hope they use the two months off to finalize a live release from the shows that they filmed along the way... lol

Not confirmed, but I would imagine that the European dates starting in June are going to be parasomnia, since it will technically be the second leg of that tour. That toy runs in June and july, and then I would hope they've got the month of August off before kicking things onback in September. They are already on the hook for a couple festival dates in September and October, so I am assuming that's when we will see them.

I think for "most" of the euro summer shows (especially festivals) won't be parasomnia shows. I think a PARASOMNIA Euro tour would take place in early '26. Would not be surprised to see NT replaced by a different song from the album though. I think MP said somewhere he has already thought about the summer setlists. We'll see....

Yep, 2026 will tour Europe AND Asia. Who knows, maybe even a stand alone summer '26 North American PROGRESSIVE NATION tour? :tup

After looking at the shirt, I think you're right. The next leg of European dates are definitely being billed as part of the anniversary tour. I guess I just find it hard to believe how hard they are still working as a band, LOL!
