I haven't seen a topic for this, so I'm opening a new one...please close it if I missed something!

They were at #9 in Italy last week, an ok-ish result (FII was at #5 the first week it was released, D/T #4 , SC #2, TA#3 just to give a few examples)

I honestly don't know any of the artists that are in the top 10...I am getting old! ??? ???

Kotowboy

I think it went to #21 in the UK Albums. Plus #2 on the UK Rock Chart.

Distance Over time went to #12 or so in the UK ?

So a lil bit of a drop.

Their highest album charting in the UK is 11 for The Astonishing.

Trav

In the U.S.

AVFTTOTW #52
D/T #24
TA #11
DT #7
ADTOE #8
BCSL #6

Yeah, quite a drop.

TAC

Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

Trav

I'm surprised how well the Astonishing did. But I remember a guy that worked in the record industry telling me a long time ago that charts have a lot to do with how the bands previous album did. Unless they're a big singles band. I think the somewhat failure of The Astonishing lead to how poorly Distance Over Time did. Because Distance Over Time was pushed a lot more, and seem to be a lot more successful outside U.S.

I think this is to be expected after moving from Roadrunner to q more niche Inside Out. Their Spotify streams are trending the same pace as it did during D/T so I wouldn't worry too much about this.

Assuming you are Italian, how is it possible that you don't know at least 4 of the 8 "artists" preceding DT? They are some of the absolute worst products of our music industry. You may hate them, as I do, but they are pretty well known!

I've heard the names "Ultimo" and "Sferra ebbasta",but I don't know any song that they made. Never heard about the others... :| :| *

Ops, sorry, I've just seen Duran Duran at #10...yeah, those guys I know..:) (are they still around??)

* I'm 47, I don't listen to music on the radio and I don't have spotify...so I am basically stuck in my world of classical/ jazz/ rock/ metal with bands from the 80s/90s...
I just buy 15-20 CDs/ years from bands I know or "close relatives" (e.g. moved from Dream Theater to Haken, but I didn't like them...)
As concerns Italian music, well, Vasco, Elisa (!!) and Britti (!!!) are the only CDs I buy...
...and Marco Sfogli, my favourite guitar player!

Hell yeah, and their new album is pretty good.

Well, I am going to add a new cd to my collection then!
I've just ordered and it's on its way...:)
I need something different sometimes.

By the way, when I was a teen, I actually preferred Spandau Ballet over Duran Duran...but Duran Duran is the 1st band that I've seen live, back in ...oh my god...1987!

Yeah, quite a drop.

Keep in mind that D/T and A View were both released after Billboard changed its formula to include streaming. So of course little known DT is going to be dropped down by the Olivia Rodrigos and the The Weeknds (not saying they don't deserve it, they're just super popular).

The more comparable measurement is the "Album sales" chart or something

Trav

#5 on Current Album Sales chart which is the same spot that D/T got.

Arkarian

#2 in Germany, that's pretty awesome. D/T even made #1 back then.
