I guess it's I&W anniversary tour Budokan concert. Probably streamed via Youtube.

TAC

If it is this, I can't wait for those saying, Labrie voice was retouched, too much this, too much that  :rolling If MP would be in the band... the sound of MM is robotic, etc.

Live at Budokan 2017?!?!

Yes :metal :metal :metal

Don't know how they're going to offer this, but I'm glad they're doing something with it, as all the heavy lifting (mixing/editing) was already done and it looks/sounds amazing.

Obviously Metropolis Part III.
Nah - already been done along with parts IV and V:

Must be part VI!
Quote from: BlobVanDam on November 13, 2015, 07:37:14 PMAs a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.
Quote from: TAC on July 10, 2024, 08:26:41 AMPOW is awesome! :P

Huh. Just saw this. I don't even have my Distant Memories artbook yet, but I'll probably get to see this online if its a streamed concert first before the DM set arrives at my doorstep.

Can't wait to see how it'll get released.

Architeuthis

I've already seen the 2017 Budokon show as filmed for Japanese TV.   If they are releasing this, I wonder if it will be touched up more production-wise?  It's pretty cool the way it is though.  :coolio :metal

If it actually is Live at Budokan 2017 (which was also my first thought)I hope it's a physical release rather than a stream of any kind. I would love a CD with Hell's Kitchen live on it!

It is strange timing for this, or any announcement, considering they just released a live album, but I'll take as much DT as they wanna give me!

TAC

Live At Budokan 2017 didn't even cross my mind honestly.

My first thought was a new album announcement for the Spring.

Maybe a Christmas torrent?..

The video fragment they used for the announcement is from the Budokan 2017 show, so I'll be very surprised if it is something else.

Between Distant Memories, the christmas medley, this and DT15 coming next year, this is a GREAT time to be a DT fan  :metal :metal :metal

Oh, ok. I used to pay a lot more attention to things. :lol

Man, Live at Budokan 2017 is happening. So happy about this.

I kinda hope they could do some extra work on JLB's voice because that was definitely a rough show for him but either way I'm so excited. As it was already mentioned, what a great time to be a DT fan.

Cool Chris

Announcing a new live video/album a couple weeks after a live video/album drops seems strange.
Maybe the grass is greener on the other side because you're not over there fucking it up.

It might be an official bootleg thing or a Christmas free download, a stream, or anything, really. We'll know tomorrow :tup

Agreed it seems like odd timing but we don't know the context yet.  I do hope it's a physical release not a stream of an old concert.  I'd take a live stream of a live concert though! Or new album news.

wolfking

I know nothing about this show.  I'm guessing this is when the band did I&W in full?  I don't follow their touring schedule much anymore?  JLB struggled a lot with that did he not?

Not when I saw them (which I think was the second or third show of that tour).

Ya know what I want for Christmas? For people to just fucking enjoy something for once.

Anyway, glad this is being released. Even though I didn't think all of LaBrie's vocal modifications were great, I had a blast at the show I attended. In fact, pound for pound it was simply one of the most fun shows I've ever seen.

They down tuned IAW and ACOS a half step, but James did struggle a bit with the songs. The production on this one is fantastic, though.

The show was on youtube (I guess illegally) for a bit and I caught most of it.  It's really well done, JLB sounds similar to what I've seen of the new live album (my order still hasn't arrived so basing it off the youtube video) where it sounds touched up. In many ways. it's very similar to the new album in that the first set is more diverse while the second set is a classic album in full.  I saw that show 3 times, enjoyed them all and would totally buy it on blu-ray, however, I don't think I would pay for a live stream of it.  Not because I've seen a lot of it, but because it's not live or a unique show in that case.

wolfking

Looking forward to checking it out then.  Cheers.

It'd be unique to me because I never got to catch the show on youtube before it was taken down.

This is a fantastic, late night surprise tease.

I remember MM's drums sounding pretty awesome during this show (better than on Distant Memories). And I think he did some amazing stuff on The Gift Of Music.

The show has been in house for 6 mnds allready. 1080p quality. Show is overdubbed as f.. but good production.

Soooooo many people on twitter saying YES PORTNOY IS BACK.

I mean how many times do they have to say it's not going to happen ?

kirksnosehair

I love how the announcement apparently needed an announcement  :lol

I seriously doubt it's a live release, especially where they just dropped a live album.  It's probably about their new album

The ones that annoy me are Scheduled YouTube videos.

Like Yes!! Something to watch!!!' .... in three days.

Great. So tell me then.

IgnotusPerIgnotium

If it is the Return to Budokan..why now? If I remember correct they weren't happy with the result and drop it, only some unofficial youtube videos remain from that concert.

That's the way of the world right now, you need to generate attention and buzz.... maybe someone will see it reposted by a friend and will say "cool, why I don't follow DT? I better do it" and the numbers of followers will increase.

Weird timing for sure, but for all we know, it's gonna be a Xmas gift, hence the release right before Christmas!
