Pick One!

Untethered Angel
Fall Into The Light
Neither

Fall into the light is the best song they wrote since Breaking all illusions.  The middle part of the song is pure magic.  I'm glad to see they can still write great stuff.

Is there any way of seeing the results without voting?

FITTL - 75.9%
UA - 12.7%
Neither - 1.9%
Kevin Moore - 9.5%

I've listened to UA about 20 times and also been learning it on guitar. Everything minus the solos, that is. Man, I LOVE THAT TUNE. It's so sick. Myung riff ftw.

I excitedly went into listening to Fall Into The Light and I've heard it only once so far, but it didn't really grab me. I remember loving the intro and the solo, but I need to give it another quality listen. Maybe once I start learning it the love will grow. Regardless I'm enjoying the vibe of this album and cannot wait for more!

voted ' Kevin Moore Fell in to the Light '... aka never enough of him

Fall into the light for sure - loved that one instantly. Untethered Angel felt more DT by the numbers upon first listen, although I've grown to really enjoy it.

FITL easily. Sounds more fresh and unique compared to UA, which sounds like you've heard it before. Though i'm sure with more listens I'll enjoy UA also..

We're almost to February... are we going to get a 3rd single?
I want one, but I can only remember there being 2 singles for the Mangini-era albums.

bosk1

That's the good thing about January.  At least thus far in our history, it has always led to February.

With DT being on IO now, I think we can expect a third single. It's their standard procedure to release 3 singles pre-album.

Really hope we don't get a third single until at least release week... Mainly because I won't be able to stop myself from listening :P
It's only been just over 2 weeks since the last!

I've been quite surprised at how early the first 2 have been released. I expected a first single early January, then a second single 15th Feb.

I still think we'll see something on the 15th, most artists release a final pre-release single the week before the album drops.
Plus it would keep a 5 week single cycle going: Dec 7th >5weeks> Jan 11th >5 weeks> Feb 15th(?) >1 week> ALBUM BITCHES!

This is actually exactly IO's strategy (or let's say it was that in the case of Haken's and Steve Hackett's recent albums respectively) that they release a third single one week before the release date. I'm not surprised if that will happen with DT as well. Note: I don't work for IO, that's just my observation.

I think I need to change my vote to UA. I have been listening to both. Since I am only 3 years into DT, I have been ODing on their music - so bombs away on the 2 singles.  As with the majority of their music, I grow in my love for the songs.  Some stay high on the list while some may slip back down. UA I liked, but it wasn't a 10 for me. Then FItL came, and I was really hooked on the solo. But now, whenever UA comes on the playlist, I am excited an crank it!. It gets better and better.  :heart

Lax

Voted FITL because I liked the sound+the midsection+the ending and the thrash vibe that is kind of new, so innovative for DT

But honestly, the more I listen to them, the more UA sticks to my mind and the less I can recall FITL in my mind instantaneously !

It's a tricky poll. I voted for Fall into the Light but UA is also great.
I think we all love FITL's middle instrumental section, and UA has that "heard it before" feeling since it has so many similarities with other DT songs. However on the long run maybe you will like that song better since it's similar to ones that you already love... if that makes sense.
So both are very good, but for now I would say FITL has more potential and has more interesting elements for me for sure than UA.

I voted for neither, because my feeling is that the "singles" may not be representative for the album as a whole.

The question was which one do you prefer. In deciding that I guess it doesn't matter if these singles represent the album as a whole or not.

I like them both, so that's another reason I voted for neither (if that makes sense)

Yes, and that is completely fine.  :)
