There is lots of young artists who can do it better and probably cheaper and most certainly original. Not that I don't like the cover though.

Got to say, you are all ruining the joy of a new release.  I saw the picture and though is was so cool.  Now everybody has to search out if it was something similar.

First listen to the song - it's ok. Lots of similarities to previous songs. Underwhelmed by the melody. Instruments are fine.

Hugh Syme is a lazy fucker. As soon as I saw the artwork I knew it wouldn't take long to find. Tothink hecreated my favourite cover of all time (Grace Under Pressure).

There are trends everywhere and so in cover artworks. Not sure if using stock images can be called a trend, but they're avalaible, it's a thing and I guess some artists simply use it.

Think of the Orange / Blue contrast for example, or the trick used by Felipe Machado on many of his cover artworks... everyone (well, maybe not everyone) has their "thing" and Syme's thing is probably using a library of stock images.

I like Permanent Waves and FBN as my fav Rush album covers,  followed closely by Signals.
Back on track, I do like the artwork to the new DT single even though it's derived from a stock image.

Sure but they've kind of brought it on themselves. It doesn't stop me thinking the artwork (both for the album and the single) looks great, but I do find it funny how quickly and easily people can find the stock images Syme uses. And it's still all irrelevant to the question of whether the music is good.

It's a shame if it ruins the joy of a new release for you, but for me it makes no difference and if anything I find it fairly entertaining.

Finding stock image is ridiculously easy because there exists search engines that literally specialises in that sort of thing, like TinEye. Put in an image in there, and you'll find other places it's been used. So people know DT uses stock images, and they put it in the search engine and finds other results  containing the pieces It's been happening since Octavarium
