Let's get this shiznit rollin...

Got four dead center, heading with my bro and some friends of his. Should be cool, very interesting venue choice, never seen a show there personally.

Wow, the responses in this thread are...um...nonexistent.  :lol

Hey, anyone have any intel on the parking situation?  I don't know that part of town well.  The Masonic has a garage, but it charges $40 and closes at midnight.  Looking for something better.

Dream Team

I notice they're throwing JLB in the deep end right off the bat, shows on 3 nights in a row. Fortunately for you guys he'll have a day off before the 24th.

I have used the ParkWhiz app. I think there are others like it. They have maps of different parking locales and pricing and pictures! Used a couple of time to go to Baseball games. Hope that helps. Is BART nearby?? We use that a lot in the Bay Area.

bosk1

I wasn't aware of that app, but thanks for the tip!  :tup

BART isn't really an option, unfortunately.  The problem is the scheduling AND distance.  It's a good 20 minute walk, which I would not want to do in SF that late at night.  And it would be easy to miss the last train.

geeeemo

Ya, it all depends on the locale in SFO.  Have fun!!! 1 more week...getting ready....you know planning an outfit :rollin, planning my VIP questions, wondering what songs they are playing!!

lonestar

There's a mini bus that's a straight shot down Sacramento St back to embarcadero Bart, I've done that from the fillmore many times and never missed the last train.

bosk1

If you are leaving right after the show, then sure.  But you know I won't be.  ;)

Oh you lesser Californians and your Parking issues

Glad to see you liked it! Anyone has seen/recorded any videos of the night?

Samsara

What a great gig last night. It was my 14th time seeing Dream Theater, and my third time with Mangini on the kit. I have to say, of those three (ADToE, Images & Beyond, DoT), this one was the best one yet. There is an undeniable chemistry between those guys on stage now. MM keeps everyone loose, tons of smiles, and really good energy. I've never seen Labrie move around like that before.

The songs from DoT really play extremely well live. And James -- I can't say enough how much he has impressed. He's meticulous about his preparation, and it really shows. If you were on the fence going, get off and come to the show.

I recorded a few last night and will upload to YouTube today. Not sure of the board's policy on including links. I'll label band, track, venue (so you can search 'Dream Theater Masonic' and find vids. I've uploaded Untethered Angel so far.

It's fine.  Post the link so people don't have to guess.

Here's a short bit of video from my seat.  With the people in front of me being tall, I had to hold my phone high and I didn't want it to be in the way of the guys behind me so it's just short of 2 minutes.
Was really cool to accidentally run into bosk1, lonestar, and a few others.   Incredible show!

How loud was it?

I've heard others say it was too loud. I didn't find it so. I could hear the lyrics, so that's always a bonus.

That's great.  Hopefully the excessive volume will be limited to The Wiltern...

Somewhat.  I used my ear plugs, which I always try to do just to be safe.  I popped them out briefly at one point just to check and see if the sound was any better with them out.  It was definitely louder than it needed to be, but not what I would have considered painfully loud.

Really great quality. Liked what you did by mixing in still shots of the stage at points. Good stuff.
