Just missing out were A Nightmare to Remember, Outcry and In the Presence of Enemies Part 1 (if it had been the full song, it would have been one of my first picks).

As it is usually the case when there are so many great songs, I had to pick about 15 tracks and then cut it down.  Needless to say, I feel guilty for leaving some tremendous tracks out.

Was unaware In the Name of God was so highly regarded, at least from this small sample size. Cool song and great album closer, just a tad too much noodling keeps it from being elite for me.

I still think it is the best post-Scenes song they have done.

I picked songs from 2003-2016, while leaving out a few of the prominent super long songs.

Interestingly, the two top songs are NOT on my list.  I was also pleasantly surprised to be choosing two songs from The Astonishing (Ravenskill and Moment of Betrayal).

I did Part 2 first.  This one was a bit more difficult to pick only 7, but still not too bad (in part because it's easy to move past the songs from TA).  I went with:

Without thinking too hard, I would have to say that BAI is probably my favorite DT song since Octavarium, and SoC is probably my favorite DT instrumental.

Tough choice leaving a few others out. A New Beginning is great, but the context of the story means it doesn't stand on its own as well as any non-Astonishing song, at least lyrically. The solo takes it over the top and is one of JP's best solos yet, but you gotta wait 5 minutes before you get there. Ministry of Lost Souls has aged wonderfully for me over the years, whereas not much else from SC has. I really love that song.

Of the 25 songs in part 4, 18 of them appeared in one of parts 1-3 (6 from part 1, 1 from part 2, and 11 from part 3).  I don't think there was ever an explanation for this.
