I'm ok with no Astonishing DVD. I've got Luna Park and BTFW already.

What does LP and BTFW have anything to do with a potential TA dvd?  There's no overlap in songs.

Meaning I don't need every single Live DVD they put out.

Well of course you don't, no one needs it.  I just want it.

Wow, took me quite a while to find the section where he says it.

Hard to gauge the comment I find. Jordan's reply might have been a default "don't ever negate future plans in interviews" kind of response.  I personally still lean towards Hef's answer being the likely one.

cramx3

And Hef's answer didn't leave out the possibility for a video in the future, just said nothing has been recorded and given that the tour is over,  it seems unlikely they will film one.

I didn't say it was unlikely.  I said, essentially, that I personally doubted it would happen.  But they don't take my personal gut instincts into consideration.

rumborak

I mean, I guess that would still leave the opportunity of a non-live DVD, which would be cool, but I doubt it.

The unlikely part was my addition to your comment of them not filming anything yet.  My wording may have made that appear to be your wording.

I'm just adding two and two together here.  They didn't film anything + the tour is over = no TA dvd until they announce more TA concerts and hence the unlikeliness, but not out of the realm of possibility for sure.

I just want to point out to everybody that a friend of mine was at the Tucson show and James was sick that day and had his honey on him to help his voice during his performance. My friend was at that show.

Hopefully we get the IaW tour instead. :D I actually would have given a TA show a pass.

It depends on whose T and whose A we're talking about.

SwedishGoose

I'm going to the Images and Words and beyond tour but would have prefferred another chance to see The Astonishing again.

jsbru

Dammit.

I really want a TA Blu-Ray.  At least my concert experience was memorable.

JiM-Xtreme

I can't get over this right now. If ever DT have done a tour that has warranted a really polished live  filming, this is surely the one - and as things stand they appear to have given it a miss. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I feel the only way this could realistically still happen is if they bring it back for a couple of one-off shows in 2017. I don't suppose it's feasible to do the whole show on one night, but they could do something like what they did for Luna Park and have two consecutive nights at the same venue with the cameras rolling and then they can pick and choose for each song.

Surely they can't just abandon the idea. Surely.

That's my general thought as well. I love BTFW, but in hindsight, I think I'd rather have seen the band skip a live DVD release on that tour and done one for this tour. TA is such a different experience and likely won't be played in it's entirety again.

Well, the "no more TA" wasnt for the world, it was specific for the US market. Just sayin'...

They still have asian/oz dates possibilities to slot in before the summer.

To me, it will depend on how much of TA is in the I&W&B setlist and if they keep the screens for that tour.  If they do, then it could be fairly easy to go back to a TA show for asia/oz.  But I am not totally sure that makes a whole let of sense to go back to a tour after starting a new one.

That would be awesome! I guess I was just under the impression it was highly likely that once they started the I&W tour, they wouldn't be going back to the full TA production show again.

TAC

Well, I trust noxon on all things DT, and y'all be wise to do the same.

Good idea but unlikely. By then they will have not played TA for quite a while and their performance of it would not be as polished as it is now. They will be playing I&W along with other songs and into a completely different mode by then. They wouldn't have the time to keep rehearsing TA while keeping up with their new tour..

I totally agree with both. TA is probably the most unique show of their career, with the best visuals, best lighting, best sound, best venues ... why they didn't film it during the first or second leg is beyond me. I doubt they will revive such a big production just to shoot a DVD but I'd love to be wrong. At least I saw the show 3 times ;D

rumborak

Can I ask, in what way was TA more of a production than previous tours? DT12 had a full opening animation, had the really cool Enigma Machine video etc.
TA had distributed screens and continuous videos, but as a whole I don't see how it was all that much bigger than previous ones. In fact, I kinda felt that it was a bit low balling it given its intended grandiosity.

Evai

Well... DT kept saying about how immersive an experience it was, after a while people started to agree since it must be true.

I think it was a lot more of a overall production. I mean, I've seen every tour at least once since IaW,  the early days it was basic, then they added some screens which was more for showing them playing live and MP of course took advantage, which were some great shows. Then, some vids opening the show and maybe a few during, but the lighting was always kinda generic. This show had superior lighting by far, and the video production was constant without showing the cam shots of themselves playing, so I would RESPECTFULLY disagree.

Side note: I kinda wish they would go back to always show them playing on the screens as I love that aspect especially during the unisons.
