Sorry if this topic has been posted before. I'm a stalker here for quite a while and i even check DTF on daily basis ever since TA came out. My english is sometimes a bit awkward so apologize for that. I consider myself a huge DT fanboy and I wanna make ringtones from DT tracks. I'm sure some peoples here have done the same. I need something that is not very heavy coz my co workers already get annoyed by BITS everytime the phone rang (not very Taylor Swift-ish for their ears]. My example of perfect text ringtone is JR solo section on Endless Sacrifice. The part that goes like this "dun dun dududun" and every other guys pause their instrument. In fact i set it on wife's phone and she thinks it's cool despite how much she dislike DT (obviously she doesn't recognize). So.. Any suggestions on DT song section which would make a great and catchy text/phone ringtone?

The ending of Three Days works exceptionally well. This bad boy has been rockin' on my phone since about a week after the release of TA  ;D

The intro of Surrounded or When Your Time Has Come.

Hmm.. Surrounded is too quiet and WYTHC is too.. happy   :-\

ytse jam riff, it's repetitive enough to identify when "ringing."

I had the ragtime part of TDoE as my text tone for the longest time.

The drum intro on The Shattered Fortress - gets louder the longer you wait to answer

The beginning of 6:00 or the test that stumped them all - those two will get your co workers attention

TAC

I'd probably go with the
OOOHHHHHH  OOOOHHHHHH OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHF# part of LTL.

After giving DT much consideration, I set my ringtone to the beginning of Iron Maiden's Where Eagles Dare.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

I had the previous 30 seconds as my alarm clock.

That's what I've got right now  ;D

I've also used the cool little section in Breaking All Illusions that starts about 5.02. Funnily enough, the other day I was thinking about changing it to something from The Astonishing - the end of Three Days suggestion sounds good  :coolio :D
Whoaaaahh, ohhh, ohhhhh. Whoaaaahh, ohhhhh, ohhhhhh. Waaah, ahhh, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaowwwwww

I'm already using Overture 1928 for mine. But I had to use the my phone's microphone to record it from a CD player, so it's not a very good recording.

I had this version of the ragtime as my ringtone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiyZgXF1CDY
...and one bar of this for text messages: https://youtu.be/FsDjr4iJBiA?t=6m32s

I used to have the beginning of Forsaken... :)

Octavarium moog solo was my ringtone for over a year :D

6:00 has been my ringtone for ages. It starts really sharply and as a ringtone works remarkably well. There have been so many occasions when my phone rings, and people are like "thats a cool ringtone man".. :tup

RJ86

The intro to Breaking All Illusions.. You would never confuse it with anyone else's ringtone  ;)

erciccio

I used the Take The Time unisone arpeggios for a long time.

It was on an old Nokia, so I had to "write" the music by myself, it was fun..:)

And my wife used the intro of "Another Day" for a few years...:)

With your signature, this is priceless. :lol

I don't put songs as my ringtone anymore though (let alone use them as alarm clock), because it totally ruins the song after a while.
