...working on pre-The Astonishing DT songs, and this is what I came up with:

False Awakening Suite
Regression
Overture 1928
Strange DejaVu
Throught My Words
Fatal Tragedy
Along for the Ride
The Looking Glass
Far From Heaven
About to Crash (Reprise)
War Inside My Head
The Test That Stumped Them All
I Walk Beside You
Vacant
Burning My Soul
Hell's Kitchen
Another Day
Wait for Sleep
Surrounded
The Silent Man

I tried to order the songs and to combine them so that there would not be any weird beginnings and endings. Total running time is 1 hour 19 minutes and 47 seconds. Not bad at all. I guess a 20-song DT disc does not need filler noise/ambient instrumentals at all.

Regression slowly starting after FAS is anticlimatic... About to Crash following into War Inside My Head would be a bit weird I guess, and so the transition from Hell's Kitchen into Another Day... but you said you combined them so probably you avoived all the abrupt, PMU-esque endings  :D

I was like what.. then I saw it was about ATC (reprise), yea I guess that's a bit odd, cool playlist nonetheless!

Hahaha, I did not realize I didn't specify it was the Reprise!!!  ;D

Wow, what a task! I don't know if I could pull this off...

I was actually surprised at how Regression starting after FAS worked. It is because it's more of FAS being an intro credits music leading to a five song-suite. ATC Reprise, on the other hand, does not have a proper ending while War Inside my Head does not have a proper beginning, which is why they sounded good combined.

Hell's Kitches leading into Another Day does have a PMU-esque effect.  :lol

That would be an awesome set. I listened and its really good.

The Hells Kitchen into Another Day transition isnt too bad if Hells Kitchen ends on a fade out.

While most of these songs are at least decent, if this was an album (or a disc of an album), it wold rank pretty low. Let's hope the concept album approach makes a difference as it does with SFAM.

Yep. My takeaway from this exercise is that a 20-song DT disc can really be a bunch of complete songs, not full of fillers. If TGOM is an indicator of the quality of a 4-minute song in The Astonishing, I think this could be a good album.
