I really like the vocals in the chorus, they turned out great.

5. Scarred

1. Blind Faith- top 10 masterpiece. One of my favorite performances from Jordan and MP. Probably James' best lyrics.

2. Scarred- very unique feeling song. Chorus and outro are brilliant. Some parts drag a bit for me but overall it's an amazing song. Bass and drum groove in this song is killer.

3. Honor Thy Father- first song I really loved from DT when I was all metal and no prog. Heavy, groovin, awesome.

4. Sacrificed Sons

5. Lost Not Forgotten- UAGM clone, yes, but that doesn't make it bad at all.

This is my ranking too.

Zyzzyva17

1. Lost Not Forgotten (top 5)

2. Sacrificed Sons (top 10)

3. Blind Faith (top 20)

4. Scarred (somewhere in the middle)

5. Honor Thy Father (bottom 10)

Dublagent66

1.  Blind Faith
2.  Scarred
3.  Honor Thy Father
4.  Lost Not Forgotten
5.  Sacrificed Sons

Enigmachine

1. Blind Faith - Represents all that is great about Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence: dynamic variation, great and memorable melodies, well done and interesting instrumental parts and a powerful, clear sound.

2. Scarred - Quite eclectic and unpredictable but also very emotional with James LaBrie bringing one of his top five performances.

3. Sacrificed Songs - Similar to Octavarium in that it keeps building and building and while it isn't quite as good as that song, it's easily second place on the album (although to be fair, there's not much competition).

4. Honor Thy Father - Not terrible, but it feels kind of weak compared to everything on the same album except As I Am as the rapping feels very out of place and the song feels a bit too long.

5. Lost Not Forgotten - I can get past similarities to Images and Words songs on other tracks from A Dramatic Turn of Events but this song seems to me like just a blatant rip-off of Under a Glass Moon.

My ranking has changed a little bit since I last posted.

1- Sacrificed Sons
2- Lost Not Forgotten
3- Honor Thy Father
4- Scarred
5- Blind Faith

With the exception of Sacrificed Sons which I hold in fairly high regard, they're all very close to each other. None of them are in my top 25, but Sacrifieced Sons is the closest and none of them are bottom tier songs.

Octavarious

1.  Blind Faith - one of the best DT ever, probably top 15
2.  Scarred - bit confusing melodic line sometimes but the final instrumental is one of the finest
3.  Sacrificed Sons - not bad, some great moments but definitely not in top 30
4.  Honor Thy Father - good energy, but that's pretty it
5.  Lost Not Forgotten - yawn - sorry?

JediKnight1969

1. Scarred
2. Lost Not Forgotten
3. Blind Faith
4. Sacrificed Sons
5. Honor Thy Father

Crow

1. Scarred, my favorite DT song
2. Sacrificed Sons, good but not outstanding
3. Blind Faith, average, some great parts (unison especially), some cheesy ones (SORRY YOU MUST EXCUSE ME, I'VE PAINTED MY OWN MONA LISA)
4. Honor Thy Father, mediocre but not awful
5. Lost Not Forgotten, bottom 5 DT song, shameless UAGM ripoff
turns out signatures are fundamentally broken now so here's my passive-aggressive signature about signatures instead

Nearmyth

1. Scarred
     - Masterful songwriting, emotional delivery by JLB, one of Awake's best guitar solos, incredible transitions and atmosphere

2. Blind Faith
     - Very beautiful song, really cool drumming, the guitar-keyboard unison near the end is stunning.

3. Honor Thy Father
     - My personal fav from ToT, just a really "cool" song, the instrumental section kicks all sorts of ass, badass and in your face.

4. Lost Not Forgotten
     - Another really neat instrumental section and good guitar solo, the rest is pretty standard and a straight up riff factory.

5. Sacrificed Sons
     - Really not great, the solo section has some cool riffs and neat things going though. Just not into this one.

Lost Not Forgotten, Honor Thy Father, Blind Faith, Sacrificed Sons, Scarred.  All 5 of these songs are between 10 and 11 minutes.  I thought it was interesting that each one is from a different album. They are all prety unique to one another and show different styles to DT.  Rank these songs from best to worst.

1. Lost Not Forgotten :metal

2. Blind Faith  :hefdaddy

3. Scarred :tup

4. Sacrificed Sons  :corn

5. Honor Thy Father  >:(

Lost Not Forgotten
Honor Thy Father (this is probably more guilt by association than anything; ToT is my least favorite album of the MP-JLB era)

Setlist Scotty

1. Blind Faith
2. Sacrificed Sons
3. Scarred
4. Honor Thy Father
5. Lost Not Forgotten

Honestly, that was pretty hard to choose, aside from LNF. I'd say on any random day I could change the order of the first 3 easily, and HTF is not far behind. Only LNF, while a decent song, doesn't grab me as much as the others.
Quote from: BlobVanDam on November 13, 2015, 07:37:14 PMAs a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

Blind Faith - One of my top 3 DT songs.  Excellent in every sense of the word (especially the lyrics and the overall mood)

Lost Not Forgotten - Excellent overall.  I don't dig the instrumental section as much but I love the lyrics and the riffs.

Sacrificed Sons - This is a great song that I just don't feel like listening to very much.  There is nothing wrong with it.

Scarred - I only got into this song recently thanks to BTFW so it has grown on me but I would still put it in the lower half of DT's catalog overall.

Honor Thy Father - This song does nothing for me.

Lolzeez

1.Scarred
2.Blind Faith
3.Honor Thy Father
4.Lost Not Forgotten
5.Sacrificed Sons

First two are top 10 DT,the rest doesn't do much for me anymore.

Thoughtspart3

1. Honor Thy Father

2. Lost Not Forgotten (This song could have been really awesome but something is missing in it that would have taken it to the next level.  It is hard to say what though)

3. Blind Faith (This would rank higher but as a Christian the lyrics are hard for me to get into)

4. Scarred
5. Sacrificed Sons

This is a strage list. This is what I have to say, though.

1. Scarred - I love this song. I don't understand the hate this one gets. It's not near my favorite off the album, but I love it when it comes around.

2. Blind Faith - This song was slightly ruined for me by the Four Degrees of Radio Edits promo. Heck, the whole album became weird to me since I got so used those four edited songs prior to release of Six Degrees. I listened to FDORE so many times, and that was my mistake. It is for this reason I don't listen to anything before an album is released anymore. Anyway, amongst the other songs on this list, it's my number 2.

3. Sacrificed Sons - I didn't care much for this one at first, but I like it. It's one of the weaker songs on the album in my opinion, though.

4. Honor Thy Father - The rap part is weird, but this is probably my favorite off of Train of Thought. Having said that, TOT is my least favorite DT album. It doesn't get many spins from me.

5. Lost Not Forgotten - Doesn't do it for me. In recent listens I have appreciated it more, but I think it's one of the weaker songs on the album. I also think it's a little out of place lyrically and story-wise amongst the other songs on the album.

Out of curiosity, why did you choose these five songs in particular? Is it just length?

KevShmev

1. Scarred (tied for their best song)
2. Blind Faith (great tune; arguably a top 25 DT song)
3. Lost Not Forgotten (very good songs, even though I am not big on the tickle section)
4. Honor Thy Father (I don't like this nearly as much as I used to, mostly because I find the vocal sections now awkward, but it sure does rock)
5. Sacrificed Sons (not a bad song, but not notable at all; probably their most boring song in this time range)
