I mean, who really cares about those WDADU songs, they're all the same anyway, right? (No.)

It is more likely that whoever is providing the update just doesn't know the WDADU songs well enough to know which one it was, that's all.

Not to nitpick, but if I could change one song in the set list, it would be TSCO.  Not that it isn't a good song.  But it has been played to death.  I think Home is a better choice because it is almost universally liked and hasn't been played in ages.  (but I understand that the length might be a problem, given other stuff they want to play)

I have to say that, for the first time since PN09 tour, i'm not that happy about the setlist. Hope it will have a couple of changes.
This could be the set for the festivals because of the timing. The non festival sets could be much different.

?

Looks like a pretty good festival/anniversary setlist - lots of hits, but that was to be expected. BMS and ATC are cool surprises! I can't say I like CM that much, but it probably works better live. I wonder if they used a JLB backing track for MP's parts or if JP sang them...

EDIT: Afterlife?! :omg: :2metal:

Evermind

If they're going chronologically, this is what I would've liked to hear, while trying to maintain the flow and not repeat too many songs:

WDADU song
Metropolis Pt. 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper (well, it makes sense as the second song too)
Innocence Faded
Hollow Years (Burning My Soul is alright too)
Home
Blind Faith (or Disappear)
As I Am
Panic Attack
ITPOE pt. 1
Wither
Bridges in the Sky
The Bigger Picture

Yeah, I realize that, just throwing a playful jab at it. This one made me smile, really.

IKR it's the most played song after many of the Images and Words songs.

A couple of guys who are at the show have just posted (on Dream Theater's vkontakte page, that's like the Russian version of Facebook) that James said from the stage: "We hope to have the new album out in January 2016".

That's by no means some kind of concrete info, they could have misheard or whatever, but 2 separate guys wrote it within seconds of each other so...I post it here. If it proves to be wrong, I apologise.

Podaar

I just made a playlist from the set.

Afterlife is a great opener!  :omg:  Who new?

Podaar

Probably no encores for the festival. I assume they need to get other performers on. ACOS would make a good encore at a solo outing though...IMO

I forgot that that's the WDADU song on Score too. That's strange, right?

Well, I really hope they'll rotate BTV with TBP at least. The Bigger Picture should be a hell of a closer.

So anyway, no encore and no ACOS?
Maybe there wasn't enough time? I counted the song lengths together and they add up to 1 hour and 25 minutes, so maybe ACOS will be played as the encore at the headlining dates where DT gets to play for 2 hours.

Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed for a 2-hour set in Helsinki, even though it's a festival... :lucien:

That is consistent with what JP said in a recent interview.

CharlesPL

I'll be on 4 shows, i hope They Played ACoS....

Next stop in Katowice - my 1st stop... Only 90 minutes here, so i think They will play the same setlist.

Tim van Duijn

They only play for 60 minutes in Holland :( i'm looking for people to go to Bonn in Germany. They are headling there and Devin Townsend and Haken are the other bands playing that night.

But all my friends can't go.

As I Am

LOVE the "Chronological effort".

Not so crazy about the set though (for me! ;))

My changes (bolded)would be:

Only A Matter of Time
Take The Time
Voices

A Change of Seasons 1 "The Crimson Sunrise"
Burning My Soul
Through Her Eyes
About to Crash
Stream of Consciousness
I Walk Beside You
Constant Motion
Wither
Lost Not Forgotten
Behind the Veil

wasteland

It's not a bad set, considering the limited time. We still don't know if it's static or not. I guess we will find out in two days.

That being said I believe there should always be an encore of some kind in a show, and closing with BTV feels a bit odd, if I remember correctly the ending is quite abrupt.

CharlesPL

Less than 48 hours, to my 1st DT show in this year, im really scarred (1st time) still waiting on ACoS, I'll wear a  obama mask :>

wasteland

Scared or scarred?  :lol

By the way, if ACOS-I is indeed in the main body it looks less likely than the whole song might be intended as the encore for the longer gigs.

orphaeusest

I approve the choice of the songs played this evening (Afterlife and Burning My Soul are really killer mode!), even if there is always something that I don't like (in this case, Constant Motion). But... no A Change of Seasons? Only the first scene? I hope there's a mistake, because Petrucci said the shows would have lasted about two hours. And the show in Minsk lasted one hour and half... just to have time for A Change of Seaons in its entire as encore...

Kind of a Meh setlist.
I kinda feel that way when I see songs like Afterlife, TSCO, As I Am, and Within in the set.  But on the flip side, it does have 3 songs that are in my top 10, parts of 2 others, and a song that I have always thought would be a cool live song (Burning My Soul), so I would be pretty happy overall if I got that set.  And they didn't play CIAW at either of the SF shows on the ADTOE tour, so that one would be cool as well.

CaelPetrucci

Does anyone know if the Burning My Soul was the '95 or '97 version? Fingers crossed for '95 with HK

bosk1

So far, we don't know.  I am betting on the '97 version, simply because of time constraints.

JayOctavarium

The setlist would work better if it wasn't constrained by the order it was played in. IMO There seems to be a lot of great openers and closers all in the middle of the set. lol

KevShmev

That's a very odd-looking set list.  I get the point of going completely in chronological order, but given the choices, that has to be a show with very odd pacing.  Metropolis 2nd?  Behind the Veil last? Odd.  Not excited about seeing two of their least best songs ever (Constant Motion and Burning My Soul), for sure.

wolfking

I don't think the setlist is all that great.  Could do without CM, TSCO, Wither and PA.

Seems to lack flow too.

Shadow Ninja 2.0

Set looks pretty cool to me. Hopefully they get Devin Townsend to sing BMS again.
